Bar night at the Celtic Knot in Evanston at Celtic Knot- Evanston

May 6, 2014 from 6:45pm to 10pm
A little over a year ago Anne Alt, Thundersnow and I put together an evening at the Celtic Knot. That evening was prompted by a delightful conversation about a video of some musicians playing on a late train returning from a gig in Kenosha. We are returning to the Celtic Knot to hear some Irish music and hopefully hear Tom (Thundersnow) playing his drum.…See More

"I had a mere severely sprained ankle my freshman year in college. I was running cross country then and was anxious to return to training. I came back too quickly and ran on it before it healed. One of my life's great regrets. The ankle has…"

Mike Keating replied to yaj 7.4's discussion Sunday morning cyclist hit
"Extremely scary. That area of Evanston is not far from my house - I ride and run through there all the time. Chicago is a very common route for bicyclists as it becomes Clark Street at the Chicago city limits at Howard. Thoughts and prayers are…"

S replied to Mike Keating's discussion Failure of Carbon Fiber Frame?
"Most road bikes out there past the lowest end versions have carbon fiber forks.  There have been recalls from time to time but no mass carnage so it's pretty apparent that carbon fiber doesn't fail and kill people if you breathe on it…"

"Oh, a bunch of pictures where nobody has any idea of the back story; that totally proves carbon is not safe... You can come up with pictures of failed steel and aluminum parts as well, maybe we should all be scared of that stuff as well. "

Juan 2-8 mi. replied to Mike Keating's discussion Failure of Carbon Fiber Frame?
"Oh geez, here we go with the airplane thing again. Sure there is that necessity to have the planes be lighter, just as sports cars have caught on to the carbon failure craze. Poor Paul Walker, if only he crashed in a not so foo foo shi shi kind of…"

"I am surprised to see such an inaccurate statement from you. Carbon fiber is, and had been, used in major structural members of aircraft for decades now.  Airbus was using it in empenage and tail structure on the 320.  Properly laid up…"

Yo Mike,

I don't think the coffee meeting format will need me to pull strings but I'll let ya know if I think a 'friendly' follow up would help.

I'm thinkin' this to be more of an introduction to LOOK for the 3 officials and to sorta feel'em out for contact info and potential leverage as we move forward with the education campaign.

Thanks for the offer and if you can make it the extra body would be handy since the hour and a half is going to be a challenge to hit all 3 since they will be burdened with many constituent concerns.
