Joe Studer 8.0 mi replied to Jerry Lee's discussion Winter commuting
"I've ridden 700c bikes through the last 6 winters, and have not had any problem with 700c tires.  On those days where the drifting is so bad that I am having to bunny hop my bike through parts of my ride, I don't think that I would be…"

Joe Studer 8.0 mi replied to Jerry Lee's discussion Winter commuting
"I have a set of Schwalbe Marathon Winter that I have used the last two seasons.  As many above have noted, and as has been discussed in prior postings, studded tires really only help on ice.  They are completely unnecessary to deal with…"

Joe Studer 8.0 mi replied to Kelly's discussion Commuting with kids - what bike?
"I totally hear you about the Bakfiet.  I would love to get a Bullitt by Larry vs Harry, but have no place to put it. Like you, I'm a condo dweller with limited space.  Our longtail was the only realistic option for us.  I've…"

Joe Studer 8.0 mi replied to Kelly's discussion Commuting with kids - what bike?
"I'm assuming that you are OK with riding a beast of a bike for your commute.  (While I love my cargo bike, using it to commute would drive me insane.) With that assumption, let me endorse the Yuba Mundo.  It is a real value, and…"

Joe Studer 8.0 mi replied to peter moormann's discussion Moving a bike while riding a bike.
"+1 on the rack idea. We also have a cargo bike that is wonderful for all the reasons set forth above.  But it is also heavy, and if you don't already own one, I don't know that I would purchase a cargo bike just to tow the BMX…"

Joe Studer 8.0 mi replied to David P.'s discussion WTB - 700c wheelset for city riding; FS - Velo Orange hammered fenders.
"David: I pulled the wheelsets.  The new set I remembered has 130 mm rear spacing, but the rim is only 19 mm wide.  These are Weinmann DPX rims with Shimano hubs.  I have another set with the wider rim that you are seeking (23 mm), but…"

I was wondering if you saw that documentary trailer and I assumed you knew the Gnarley dudes the movie profiled. Any time you see the Bad Monkey bus stop in and see if I'm around. You'll also see Bad Monkey's on the road and in the beer gardens, you simply can't miss us.

I assure you, not everyone characterizes my perspective as "wit." And thank you for the wheel resource. I got a set of Mavic touring rims with XT hubs for stupid cheap.
