Jeff Markus replied to Madeline's discussion Electric Bikes?
"As an old fart that still wanted to commute by bike I bought a e-bike for my 9mile each way commute and if I'd just wauited a couple of years more for the technology to mature a bit I'd be a real happy camper. As it is my bike (one of…"

Jeff Markus replied to notoriousDUG's discussion So do we even have any form of moderation here?
"I know this sounds simplistic but imposing a numerical limit or number of posts per time frame might have a dampeninmg effect. Altho I do like the idea of a basement to shunt the runaway threads into without badgering or banning neighbors in the…"

Peoples Climate March in New York City

It may be off topic but should be on our minds.Next month the United Nations is having another round of discussions on the climate. Previous groups have met with limited sucess because the world does not see the big dog (USA) as an involved world partner in making changes in the climate picture. Now we have a chance to tell the world, and our government, that we want climate change to be discussed, to be brought to the front burner and changes to be made to stop the degradation of our air, land…See More

Politics-Peoples Climate March-

If you can find someplace to get out and make a statement come September 21st, 2014. That Sunday we must make a showing to demonstrate our concerns about the CLIMATE to assure the UN attempts to industrialize climate protection regulation and stop improvements in the environmental protections we need and those we have which need strength and enforcement. The main action will be in NEW YORK CITY and if you and yours can make it to the Big Apple sheer numbers can make a big statement to the…See More

Jeff Markus replied to SixtyTwoPercent's discussion So, you see your stolen bike on Craigslist...what do you do? (Think of this as an idea generator)

Wrong Ward Map

I was just checking the group before hitting the shower to go to the meeting (wed 1/29...7-9PM) and I noticed ya got the old ward map up. Check the 39th site (Ald Laurino) for a more current map. The y gerrymandered me out of the 45th just after last election. I fought for Arena as a bike centric Ald. and then ended up in Laurino's who had a bike co-ordinator or at least a person whose desk gathers Bike info. The 39th now goes west to Elston including the golf course back into Sauganash. This…See More
