Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere, but while riding on Pratt last week, I came across what looked to be a new trail that runs NE-SW between McCormick and Crawford. It doesn't show up on…Continue

I recently rode the LFP for the first time since they opened up the new segment by Fullerton and I was disappointed to see that they've already torn up the paved detour path.Does anyone know if this…Continue

"That always bugged me. When I describe it, I bike, I don't cycle. I'm a biker. Both groups can use it. Plus cyclist is too much of a mouthful."

"It is part of the Weber Spur.  Union Pacific actually leased the land to Lincolnwood to build this part of the trail.  It goes north of Main Street to Touhy. If you go south it will end at Devon, and right across the street is a the…"

New(ish) trail in Lincolnwood

Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere, but while riding on Pratt last week, I came across what looked to be a new trail that runs NE-SW between McCormick and Crawford. It doesn't show up on Google Maps yet, but I've circled the area in red below. The southern end is at Devon, but I don't know how far north of Pratt it extends.Does anybody know if there are plans to extend it south of Devon (the area circled in yellow)? It could meet up with the Skokie Valley Trail south of Bryn Mawr…See More

"Finally went back to Pittsburgh last week and got to try biking in the city. Mostly I used the hotel's bike, but I also used the Healthy Ride bike share program: https://healthyridepgh.com/ Its pretty good, but doesn't have the…"

JeffB replied to Alex Z's discussion LFTmageddon?
"Once you get south of the Lincoln Park Boat Club (so. of Fullerton), switch to the limestone path closer to the lagoon. The paved path there is terrible. When you get near the south end of the lagoon, I think this is the best route to get back to…"

"Barricades were up this morning. At the Diversey bridge (btw, exiting at Barry is much better) and at the North Ave Beach tunnel. Looks like they want people to use the tunnel at NAB, rather than the sidewalk alongside LaSalle. They had a barricade…"

JeffB replied to Alex Z's discussion LFTmageddon?
"I took the detour today even thought they hadn't blocked it off yet. Its not bad at all. Coming from the north, I exited through the Barry underpass and took both paved and gravel paths to North Ave. The paved path south of the Fullerton…"

JeffB replied to Yasmeen's discussion What Are Your Favorite Chicago-Area Bike Lanes, Paths & Routes?
"Lights at Diversey, Belmont, Addison and Grace/Lincoln. Four way stops at other intersections. North of Grace, Leavitt is another good alternative to Damen, as long as you're heading north. Otherwise, use Ravenswood."

JeffB replied to Yasmeen's discussion What Are Your Favorite Chicago-Area Bike Lanes, Paths & Routes?
"I've never felt that way. Maybe I've just inured myself to it, but other than the recent spots of construction its not bad. A good alternative north of Diversey is Wolcott. Relatively wide neighborhood street. I used to use it more often…"

JeffB replied to Yasmeen's discussion What Are Your Favorite Chicago-Area Bike Lanes, Paths & Routes?
"For my Ravenswood to Loop commute, I like to take Leland as the route to the LFP. You have to turn on Sheridan and finish up on Wilson, but its relatively low traffic and calm. I remember hearing something about making it a greenway, but I think its…"
