J replied to Yasmin Dalton's discussion 'Bakfiest Repairs'
"Duppie's method works. It's how roadside mechanics in China and India repair flats for a nickel. All I'm saying is if you can afford a Bakfiets, you can afford professional service."

"I would not take a Bakfiets to a shop unfamiliar with them. The braking and steering linkage systems are uncommon and while most shops will accept the work, not all will be immediately capable of identifying and resolving problems.   JC Lind is…"

Then I've changed my mind about the Neo-Retros. I'm going to look for some Suntour cantis which have legendary status along with their bar end friction shifters. It would have been neat to find something that was USA made and it doesn't seem worth my time or money to track down the Campy version. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We'll talk about the hubs later. I'm working on a build for the '09 season on my Raleigh. Much easier to snag parts these days. I'm also looking to upgrade my canti brakes - how is the clearance with Paul Neo-Retros with fenders, bags and racks? Am I better off with something else?

Jay - Since you are so knowledgeable, I need to know about Disc brake hubs - I want to use them on my touring rig but I don't want disc brakes right now. I'll be using them with cantilever brakes instead. Is that safe? Also - do all DT Hugi hubs basically use the same type of bearings - same size, interchangeable, etc?
