Women Bike Chicago

A grass roots group started by local women to encourage other women to ride bikes for fun, for commuting, for transport, or for whatever.  Join us at the Second Annual Day of Dialogue and Demonstrations on April 12, 2014, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Dvorak Park, 1119 W. Cullerton, Chicago.

Our events are "by women for women" with the hope that more women will join us riding bikes.

We also plan smaller, more focused events like our Divvy ride and our ride to the All Female Mariachi concert last year.

We want to see women cycling on the streets, on the paths, and on the trails for transportation, to run errands, or just for fun.  Any woman can do it!

Have you all invited your friends to the Day of Dialogue next Saturday? Great presentations, great space, and so far the weather looks like it will cooperate.  Ask them to register at

Liz, see my friend request. :-)  The message about the flyers is probably in your e-mail since I sent a message to the group.

Ok, I could've sworn I saw a message about flyer distribution...where did it go??

Anyway, I would love to help distribute some flyers but I cannot pick them up Saturday at 10 because I will be at the bike shop where I work in Evanston.

I might be able to help with some planning. Sounds fun!

I'd like to join the planning group!

The second annual Women Bike Chicago Day of Dialogue and Demonstration is in the planning stage at this moment.  Date will be announced in the next couple of days.  Anyone who wants to join the planning group?

Also, we want to schedule a couple of informal social get-togethers in March.  Anyone willing to help with that?  With the winter we have been having, not everyone will want to bike, but lots of women who bike still want to spend time with other women who bike. :-)

I have been riding for years. I hadn't heard about last year's Women Bike Chicago event! Sounds great.

I am betting that Justyna will be at the Rapid Transit table.

We should have our flyer--designed by the wonderful folks at Active Trans--available on Saturday.  At the very least we will have it at the Chicago Cycling Club table and the Chainlink table.  Anne Alt will be at the Chicago Cycling Club table for a while, Susan Levin will be at the Chainlink table for a while, Jane Healy will be participating in a presentation about raising the next generation of cyclists at 11:30, Jennifer James and Jane will be at the kids' craft table, I hear that Anika Byerly and Ash Lottes will be hanging out--maybe around the cargo bikes . . . A great chance to meet one another and touch base.

We will have our "volunteer wish list" in a couple of days and I will pass it on here.  I might even have more information on Saturday.  Will be at the Chainlink table at the Bike Swap between 1 and 3.  Stop by!  At the very least it will be nice to meet those of you whom I do not already know.
