Ride of Silence - May 20, 2015 - One day. One time. World wide.

Join the annual Ride of Silence, an organized annual cycling procession honoring those that have been injured or killed. The goal is to raise awareness that we are here, and to ask that we all share the road.

Save the date for the 2015 Chicago Ride Of Silence.

Our route typically passes several Ghost Bikes, which are powerful memorials to fallen cyclists created by painting a bicycle white and placing it at or near the site of the cyclist’s death.

DATE: May 20, 2015 (always the 3rd Wednesday of May)
TIME: Gather at 6:00 pm; Depart at 6:30pm

One day. One Time. World wide.

Communities throughout Chicagoland participate in the Ride of Silence including: Arlington Heights, Bartlett, Elk Grove Village, Evanston, Joliet, Oak Park and Peoria.

We will plan to host one meeting per week leading up to this year's ROS on May 20. We will need to do an inventory and assess the condition of current ghost bikes, since our route typically passes several. No route has yet been determined. Please attend the meeting this week (see Tom A.K.'s comment below for details) if you would like to provide input and help with scouting possible routes. Thanks!

Has there been any planning besides merchandise? Any idea which spots are going to be visited this year? Not much time left.

The DEADLINE FOR JERSEY AND CAP ORDERS to get merchandise in time for the 2014 Ride of Silence is the end of TODAY, Monday, May 5!

Top 3 reasons to buy RoS merchandise...
1. Support the RoS! Proceeds from sales benefit the RoS
2. Be Safer! Brighter and more vibrant jersey design with reflective back pockets
3. RoS jerseys and caps allow us to spread the word year around -- wear your jersey and/or cap year round to spread the word!

For the Chicago Ride of Silence... we want to know : Would you purchase a cap the "night of" if we order a few?
Please let us know!

We'll be attending the tribute ride for fallen CPD officer Brian McDevitt followed by placement of a ghost bike at the intersection of 135th and Ridgeland, Palos Heights. The tribute ride will meet at 112th and Kedzie at 3pm; the ghost bike placement will take place at 4pm.
