-start a separate discussion to collect information on, discuss, and plan for each victim.

-take the time, if possible, to assist by helping track down missing information or details.

-try to post information to pertinent discussions rather than to the comment wall, so we can find it down the road, or otherwise stated, avoid posting discussion to the comment wall for which there is a discussion thread started.

-feel free to add past victims who were never memorialized, or start discussions about existing ghost bikes and/or their victims.

Ghost Bike at the east end of the Williamsburg Bridge, Brooklyn, NY. Chicago does a better job.

Spelling correction on earlier post-- Isai.

Ironic that I noticed the bike gone on my way to hear Wye Oak.

Seems like it might have been up her alley.

The bike was there so long I had started to think it would just be there forever.  I looked about 3 times but I rarely ride on horrible streets like Division so I wasn't able to get the best look, so additional confirmation might be wise. But it looks like they installed some sort of barrier which made it necessary to remove the bike.

You're absolutely certain?  I assume so.  I'll update my info. That bike was the second oldest installed I believe, in 2005, one of only a few visible in Google Street View, and in a most challenging environment.  I happened to have known her.  We worked in the same office.  Her hearing everyday sounds as music idea changed my awareness of city noises.

Good reminder about locking best practices. I'd already considered my U locks would only be useful in limited cases (such as to close a chain), but any possibility is better than adding to landfill.

I noticed Alicia Frantz's ghost bike is gone on my way to Hideout block party tonight.

Also, someone moved Isaih's from the pole to an adjacent tree; the sign is hanging at an odd angle but otherwise it's positioned reasonably well.

I've been meaning to take it down and try to find someone willing to create a new one.

City bike racks and street signs are both no-nos in terms of ghost bike locking; one takes up much needed parking space and the other will be removed promptly. So not sure what else there is to lock with a U-lock to.  What we really need is chain of a decent gauge-- the stuff I've been buying costs around $4/foot so close to $20 for each bike.

Andrew,

I'll take em. Besides bikes themselves, I have pretty much everything on hand to build a ghostbike, (spray paint, tape, signs, etc)

I have two U locks to donate to this cause.  One is a Kryptonite (sometimes sticks, so not perfectly trustable for constant use), the other's an OnGuard (for which I only have one key, and they don't sell dupes?!?!?  I tried.  Bastards.).  Anyhow, I'm holding them both just for eventual GB use.  If I can bring them somewhere in advance (I have very little room) do tell.  Or if they'll never be useful, do tell.

Interesting sample of what's been going on in London and the public debate about cycling safety:

Especially see last comment about the Torries walking out.

Jera Sue-I'm not sure what having a ride about ghost bikes has to do with anything I've written.  Are you willing to do the actual work of replacing ghost bikes that are taken down?

Duppie, we've been trying to start a discussion for each new victim in this group-- if you look at this threads you should get a quick picture of the backlog.
