YAYYY! I will ride tomorrow then. It'll be faster, for sure, but I feel like the road is wide enough that there's not too many close passes, so long as there's no traffic... We'll see!

Yeah, I ended up taking Kinzie>Green>Hubbard>Noble>Augusta>Damen>Armitage to get where I was going last night. I figured it wasn't worth it to deal with Milwaukee in the slippery rain. Thanks for the update.

 

Like others, I'm interested to see how the Kinzie stoplight plays out...

The Milwaukee / Kimball / Diversey intersection is being milled this morning for resurfacing.

And it seems as if the temporary NB lanes are now more narrow than when they were on the E side of the street.  There is almost no room to ride by on the right unless you duck into the construction area.  Even then, they've filled the hoes with a soft sand/asphalt mixture that will swallow your tires given the chance.

I've heard this week from folks who ride it regularly that it still sucks - still under construction.

Holy life-threatening ride, Batman!  Especially northbound.  Feel free to join me Kinzie-Green-Hubbard-Noble which is my normal route.  It is longer and slower, but your chance of survival is far greater than it is riding through that nightmare.

Lawrence is ripped up, esp near Ravenswood. 

I never think to take an alternate route until I am upon the construction. Are others not just taking the lane? With the narrow lanes, it is just not safe for cars to pass so I haven't been giving them the opportunity to do so. I am not a fast rider but consider my actions to be a positive traffic calmer thru there. I don't ride that route daily but so far have only had one negative interaction which seems fairly minimal.

It's terrible pavement. I avoid terrible pavement.

I just rode the Milwaukee construction zone in both directions earlier this afternoon. Both travel lanes are (still) on the curb side. The pavement does suck, but I've never found riding it too terrible. I always take the lane, because there's not enough room to pass safely. Sometimes I am held up by slower motor traffic, and even when I'm at the head of the train I've never had anyone show impatience.

I noticed that Division is open again between Clark and LaSalle.
