Homebuilt replied to Juan 2-8 mi.'s discussion Bike rack pet peeves
"Officially, you're supposed to park parallel to the rack. I think that's especially for congested locations where they would block the sidewalk otherwise. In areas with more space, like my local El stop, perpendicular works much better. I…"

Homebuilt replied to peter moormann's discussion Kar Kickerz
"When people pass way too close a few times I reach out as they pass again to see if I can get them. If I touch the car, obviously they're way too close. I got a mirror to fold back once."

Homebuilt replied to Jimmy Baham's discussion Chicago's most dangerous streets for cycling?
"I have all sorts of favored routes depending on what I'm doing. I ride with kids sometimes and ride much tamer streets then. But some of the alternatives for some stretches: Paulina (that's a long "i" BTW) is a block west of…"

Homebuilt replied to Brian's discussion I was ambushed
"I have given a perfectly good license plate in a physical assault and then had the police officer tell me that I had to be able to identify the driver as well. I'm pretty convinced they just don't want to help bicyclists. I have never had…"

Homebuilt replied to Haddon's discussion Geared Coaster Breaks
"I have the SRAM i9 with disk brakes, so I can't answer your questions on brakes (I like the disk, BTW). The range is just fine. Look up a good gear calculator and put in your current and the hub you're thinking of. Then you can look at…"

Homebuilt, I have a bike seat you could take in exchange for removing it and installing a new seat I have. BUT, it's a woman's seat: a $60 Terry that turned out to be so uncomfortable that I had to put a gel cover over it. Now I found a wide seat at a tag sale I want to replace it with. If you're interested, I'm in Edgewater at 773-295-8190.
thanks, Rachel
