I moved to Chicago at the end of May 2011 for a job. Lived in rural IL and drove over 100 miles a day to a job in St. Louis (Go Cardinals!). If I was making the move I had planned on getting rid of stuff... First thing to go was the car ('04 Ford Focus - We had some good times!). My first bike got stolen off the back porch... Stupid cable lock! (Lesson Learned!!) My parents were nice enough to by me a 'new' bike, from Wal-mart. (Heaviest POS EVER!) I started riding to work everyday since the Tuesday after Labor Day. Finally in November '11 I went and got myself a new bike: Globe Roll 1. Awwee!! Heaven, so light weight, no gears for me to mess up... Everything this commuter needed.
I want to become more involved in the 'cycling' community, however, being a single parent with no friends or family around for 250 miles sucks up my 'going' out for adult rides, or alone besides work. The Kid is great. He & I ride all over the place. (Yes, I ride on the sidewalk with a 6 year old.) He is becoming the little commuter himself! Once he rides without training wheels he gets a new (lighter) bike... Man he has got his eye on one...
