Gravel Road Ride at Start at Boulevard Bikes
March 17, 2013 from 9am to 12pm
Barry-Roubaix, Gravel Metric, Trans-Iowa. These all sound like a blast, but they're far away. Come on a ride with us and explore some gnarly gravel here in Chicago. We'll meet in Logan Square and ride at a moderate pace. Route is yet to be determined, as ground cover changes, but most likely will involve abandoned rail lines and bike paths. Bring some snack food and a bike made for hard riding- touring bike, cyclocross, or mountain bike will be fine.See More

"Doesnt work for really long rides, because the bottles can freeze completely through...but for shorter rides / commutes I turn my bottles upsidedown so the ice forms at the bottom of the bottle rather than the top, leaving the drinking water…"

I checked out your link that you posted on the "ride to the dunes" thread, and I am planning basically this same trip in august. I noticed the Muskegon to Milwaukee part and am wondering if you are taking a public ferry or something across to WISC. Forgive me if this sounds ridiculous...im new to the area and if this is an option to cut across the lake I would like to know more. thanks -
