My chain snapped on my commute to work this morning - and unfortunately I don't have the tools/parts with me to fix it. Any recommendations of repair shops in/close to the loop? - hopefully walking…Continue

Found Bike Pump on E Illinois Street (by Navy Pier) this am

Seems like a nice pump - though either old or poorly maintained - when I tested it water came out of the hose and when I dismantled it to help dry it out there was a fair amount  of grit and sand…Continue

"Well said. Yes, the extremes are memorable. Most of the drivers I encounter while out riding in my neighborhood cause me no trouble and don't stick in my memory. The guy in the beat up work van with the racing stripe who speeds down…"

"I am not so sure if this is the case.  There are both cyclists and drivers who project status in their vehicles whether its a two wheeled Seven or a four wheeled Jaguar. The rest of the world uses their vehicles for transportation and…"

Not too hip replied to BritBoy's discussion Perceptions of cyclists
"I  think that over 50% of Chicago cyclists are clueless or arrogant. It is not just rolling stop signs an red lights, it is weaving in and out of slow moving traffic. As a driver I consider these guys morons, as a cyclist I consider these guys…"

Jeff Schneider replied to BritBoy's discussion Perceptions of cyclists
"Driving is mostly a pain.  With so many cars choking our streets, we get fatigued and aggravated slogging through the congestion.  And we have little provision (of either infra or education) for coexistence of drivers with cyclists. Most…"

BritBoy replied to Haddon's discussion What happened to biking hand signals?
"Growing up in England we had the Cycling Proficiency Test - i think we got a little badge or something if we passed - which I think pretty much everyone did. I had always wondered why the brakes were reversed on UK vs US bikes!! Makes perfect…"

"It is always sad to hear about the death of a fellow cyclist.  Why are there traffic signals on residential streets in that section of Bridgeport? Folklore suggests that they are a remnant of the Daley machine era during which Bridgeport got…"

"I have no idea what happened in this case, but lots of drivers blow reds and stop signs in that area.   I would hope that the police aren't taking at face value the word of a guy driving without a license who has a heck of a motive to lie."
