“Finding the right hat can often make the difference between feeling comfortable and not,” said Ezra Hozinsky, Owner of Green Machine Cycles.

Green Machine offers a full selection of caps, balaclavas and gaiters ranging in fabric from polar fleece to merino wool to neoprene. One of his customer favorites, however, is a Belgian cycling cap hand-stitched in Chicago by Kozie Prery.

“It’s a locally-made product that works at least as well, if not better, than the mass produced stuff,” Hozinsky said. “It also fits really well.”

For people with chronically cold hands, Hozinsky said his customers have good luck with the neoprene Bar Mitts.

Available in a variations to fit mountain bike-style flat bars as well as road bikes with drop bars, they’re like gloves for your gloves.

“They definitely work,” Hozinsky said.
