Crafty Cyclists Unite!

Are you crafty? Tell us about it! We'd like to have a big bike craft show in Chicago one of these days so let's talk about what we make and how to make a craft show happen. In the meantime, let's have lots of craft nights/rainy weekend craft days to have fun being creative together.

rik asked, "Is this for 'crafty cycling projects' or just 'general crafty projects by people who happen to be cyclists'?"

Christie replied, "I say any and all craftiness is welcome. Whether you want to knit a hat to wear under your helmet, draw a bicycle in your sketch pad, sew a new skirt to wear while riding your bicycle, or quilt a blanket to snuggle up with after a cold ride, it all works!"

I made some I can't get enough of Pierogi John catnip toys. Let me know if you want one/some.

Sugar Ray tested them and approves:

Hello fellow cyclist.
I figure this would be a good place as any to post this.
Robert's Cycles in Rogers Park is looking for a female mechanic.
Need not be an expert but she needs to know how to handle tools and do basic maintenance.
Robert's Cycles is located at
7054 North Clark Street
Chicago, IL 60626
Ask for Richard

I say one craft night ought to be focused on making some nipple tassels to help beautify Critical Mass and help calm down angry motorists. "She's Crafty" has an easy pattern for tassels. The end result is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iryqHw4qMJI and is safe for work.

I might be alone on this, but I am somewhat partial to Humboldt Park.

there are so many parks and they are all fantastic. i keep missing craft nights for late night work, but if it's outside...that's just too tempting to pass up. what about that huge park in lincoln square? what's that one called...it's so pretty.

Would there be any interest in organizing an outdoor craft night? Perhaps at a park? Might be fun to do some messier projects.

Any suggestions for locations?

There are some skate helmets that could be turned into these:

and the ear warmers would be a great project for NEXT winter.

At one craft night we put stars punched out of reflective tape on our helmets. It was pretty fun...thnaks to Jera for punching out the stars. Reflective tape is a wonderful thing!
