I don't know if this makes me more sad or angry.
I sometimes ride E-W in the area at a similar time (I live less than a block from North Ave but W of Austin), but I go out of my way to avoid this neighborhood.
Whatever the reason for being out, nobody deserves to be assaulted. Or worse, as this young man was.
My heart goes out to his family. All this senseless violence too often reminds me how little time we all have.
