Calling all cycling enthusiasts currently looking for employment opportunities!

Following the news of Chicago's Bike Sharing program "Divvy" by Steven Vance (post here), I'd like to share job opportunities that are available at Alta Bike Share, the company who will manage Divvy.

We at Skills for Chicagoland’s Future work with Cook County employers to fill their open positions with unemployed job seekers.  We have teamed up with Alta Bike Share, who has committed to hire a substantial portion of its new employees through our non-profit.

One of the most important roles they are hiring is Bike Assembly Specialists.  They are looking for hands-on, team-oriented individuals who have an enthusiasm for the program and the environment.  The position is temporary with potential to hire full-time, starting this summer.  If interested, please apply here.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the lead recruiter Tiana Pires @ tpires@skillsforchicagoland.com.

That's a horrible link, I recommend to anyone to NOT fill it out. Why do they ask for so much personal info.

Amount you make a week and your SS#

Phishing.

Mike,

I appreciate your concern.  If you have visited our company website, www.skillsforchicagolandsfuture.com, you will see that we are Non-Profit organization serving the unemployed in Chicago and greater Cook County.  We are funded by the City of Chicago, Cook County, and private foundations.  We are a signature initiative of Mayor Emmanuel, and we are supported by Cook County President Preckwinkle and Penny Pritzker, who chairs our board.  Per our funding, we are required to prove that those we help are actually unemployed.  We are not able to help those who are gainfully employed and looking for new job opportunities.  To see for yourself, check out this news clip done by WGN News:

The reason we ask for a SS# is so that we can check unemployment status via the Illinois Department of Employment Security portal.  To reiterate, we have to prove this to the City of Chicago and Cook County in order to receive funding and operate.  We are in the process of simplifying our "create a profile" process, in which job seekers will only be asked to prove unemployment should they be in contention for an actual position.

Should you still be concerned about the authenticity of our organization, please feel free to call us at 312-906-7200 or stop by our office at 191 N. Wacker.
