Phillip Hutchinson replied to John Greenfield's discussion CDOT Said Alderman Reilly's Riverwalk Bike Ban Was a Really Bad Idea
"The concerns about bike/ped conflicts on the lakefront led to an improved design to reduce those conflicts, not a ban on bikes.  Shouldn't the same approach happen on the Riverwalk? "

"This looks awesome, thanks! I was debating if I could use Uber/Lyft to do a one-way ride bike back to TC, but this looks like a perfect solution for that and only $3, what a great find."

Road and/or gravel routes around Traverse City, MI

Hey Chainlink,I'm wondering if anyone has done any riding around the Traverse City area and has suggestions for routes?I know there are a lot of scenic roads especially around that area, but not sure if there are specific routes that are more bike-friendly than others? Or any that might include some gravel/dirt roads that I could ride on a CX bike? Hoping to come up with a few options for 30-60 mile rides. Thanks!See More

"What exactly is the concern here? The people riding scooters on the 606 in that video look to be going roughly the same speed as bikes, and they take up less space. Everyone looks like they're having fun, riding safely and no one is getting…"

"Agreed, it's very interesting to watch. There have been huge swings in the last few years. The long-term average is 578.84 feet (since 1918).  The video of the cyclists being knocked down by waves was from a big storm in Sept. 2011, when…"

Phillip Hutchinson replied to Mike Schwab's discussion Lake Michigan at record high levels.
"Yes, but not the one most people think of. Hydrologically Lake Michigan and Lake Huron are the same body of water, and have the same water level.  The main outflow of the combined lakes is the St. Clare river to Lake Erie."

Phillip Hutchinson replied to Brian S's discussion When will the Trail Separation project be completed?
"Agree 100%. This section of trail separation doesn't work and should be revised. No one (cyclists or runners) wants to detour around the east side of Cricket Hill, and on weekends that path is full of kids and park users anyways. Even if…"
