So sad, another stop on the Ride of Silence

No additional news yet on the identity of the cyclist. Here's the most recent article on the Chicagoist:

No citations to the driver or information on what exactly happened. Awful :(

I know, it's frustrating to hear but it's pretty consistent the CPD waits for the investigation before issuing any citations in a fatal crash. Hopefully news will be available soon.

That was a beautiful article. It was very heartfelt, the quotes were on point and respectful. The facts were stated objectively. Kelly Bauer and Mina Bloom, thank you for offering a solemn tribute that kept us informed of the facts and offered hope for the future.

I live in the 3200 Block of N Division and saw all the emergency vehicles on my way home last night and I was wondering what had happened.  So sad to hear we lost another cyclist on the streets of Chicago. :(

Made the mistake of reading FB comments on these articles.  Despite zero evidence that the cyclist was at fault, many are blaming him for choosing to ride his bike last night, since drivers are never at fault for crashing into people in "black ice" conditions.

Sacramento/Humboldt Blvd is a pretty dangerous road. Cars rip through the park from Grand/Chicago all the way up to Palmer. As a pedestrian crossing through the park and past North Ave, it's very unsafe. I can't imagine cycling on this part of the road. Until the city does something to enforce speed limits and yielding to peds/cyclists, this will keep happening.

Update 1/12/17, 1:20 PM: The victim has been identified, but his identity has not been released pending notification of kin, according to the medical examiner’s office.
