The Chainlink

October 27, 2009: Spooks and Spokes

A message to all members of the chainlink

Welcome to This Week On The Chainlink – the update from thechainlink.org.

In this update:
-       Remembering Liza Whitacre
-       Wednesday: Crash Support Group
-       Thursday: Ride of The Dead
-       Friday: Halloween Critical Mass or Halloween Alleycat
-       Saturday: Tour of West Town
-       Toys for Tots Drop-off at Cycle Studio

More details:

- First, we'd like to take a moment to remember a fellow Chicago cyclist who lost her life last week in a crash in Lakeview.  Many in the cycling community knew Liza personally or had interacted with her at Metropolis Coffee Co.  This past Sunday, a Ghost Bike was dedicated in her memory at the crash site (Damen and Wellington), following a group ride from the coffee shop where she worked.  Our hearts are with her family and friends.

This Wednesday is the monthly Crash Victim Support Group meeting at Active Transportation Alliance. These are free, confidential and facilitated by a licensed psychologist.

On Thursday, Lugs welcomes you to the 2nd annual Ride of the Dead!  For a bloody good time, pull yourself outta the ground n' come cruise around with them.

This Friday is everyone's favorite Chicago Critical Mass Halloween ride. Don't forget to dress up yourself and your bike. Or if you prefer to celebrate doing an alleycat, check out the calendar for another spooky ride.

On Saturday, tour West Town with our favorite cycling Realtor and architecture/history buff Lee Diamond of Big Shoulders Realty.  This month’s tour is in conjunction with West Town Bikes and Ciclo Urbano.

- TheCycleStudio is proud to be a “Drop Spot" for the US Marine's Toys for Tots Foundation.  Help them provide new toys to underprivileged children this holiday season (through December 20). For each toy you donate, you will receive a FREE $10 gift card! Check out drop off times on the calendar.

Thanks for being a part of The Chainlink!
