Description

A clockwise day-long ride around the four corners of our fair city.
No pre-registration, no fees, no tyvec numbers, no support vehicles, no reason but to ride.

We leave Buckingham Fountain at 9am and head South down the Lakeshore Path. We regroup briefly at the Southshore Cultural Center before continuing South on streets to Calumet Fisheries and Wolf Lake.

Not a race, but not for beginning riders. We ride Critical Mass style with mutual support and no drops at a reasonable pace. An excellent first timer's century ride with dozens of public transit bailout points should you feel the need to split early.

Begun in 2001 by John Greenfield, who led it for 10 years, Chicago Perimeter Ride continues through dozens of neighborhoods and a striking variety of scenery. The Best Ride of the Year!

Bring cash for meals, some extra tubes to share, and plenty of water. We leave Buckingham Fountain at 9 and regroup at the South Shore Cultural Center before heading to the wilds of Wolf Lake, beers in Pullman, ice cream in Beverly and on and on.

Whew! Looking at the weather forecast, it looks like rain will be over in the pre-dawn hours and we'll have a dry-but-cloudy day.

Things to bring:
--Cash for food. Calumet Fisheries doesn't accept cards. Not sure about Rainbow Cone and Superdawg, but better safe than not. Argus can't sell us beer, but we put out a donation bucket to raise money for the Friends of Pullman to show our appreciation.
--Plenty of water. have an extra bottle or two and refill them whenever you can as there are long stretches without a fountain.
--Snacks. Trail mix, cookies, powerbars, whatever will keep you from getting that glazed-over dead-eyed zombie look. You will need fuel for this trip!
--Spare tubes/pump/tools. While a lot of the rough pavement on the route has been pleasantly repaved since last year, some mechanical issues are bound to come up. We don't have support vehicles, we just have each other. If you don't know how to fix a flat, be prepared to buy a beer/ice cream for the person who fixes yours.

See you tomorrow!

I'd like to join you for part of the ride after Wolf Lake. Will you be using Massup to track the route again?

We leave Buckingham Fountain at 9am. The first leg is down the lakeshore path and we can only go so fast, so you can easily catch us along the way. We stop at the Southshore Cultural Center to regroup and use the bathroom before continuing on to Calumet Fisheries and then Wolf Lake.

What is the start time ?
Coming from Brighton Park area, and need to plan travel time there, so I am not speeding to meet at the start.....
Thanks.
Plus, I just bought my Fuji Sportif 1.0, so this will be a break in long ride.
