The Chainlink

ROSCOE VILLAGE — The long-gestating Addison Underbridge Connector — a section of riverfront bike path that will connect Belmont on the south to Montrose on the north — finally has a tentative start date and a far less awkward name.

The Chicago Department of Transportation is now also calling the connector the Riverview Bridge, which references not only the portion of the path that will soar above the Chicago River, but also the defunct Riverview Amusement Park, once located at the path's starting point in Clark Park.

I know that a lot of times what gets drawn up looks a lot different than the final product, but this would be fantastic if it ended up looking like this when done. Either way, I'm really looking forward to it.

Now all they need is a pedestrian bridge at Roscoe.

Yesyesyesyesyesyes. I would love this so much.

I remember seeing these renders a few months ago. Looks like it's going to be a nice trail.

Looks beautiful and can't wait to ride it.  Wondering how they will keep it safe after the recent influx of highwaymen plaguing evening cyclists on the 606....

Wow, if it's anything close to this that's amazing.

What's happening with the Weber Spur Trail?  From Devon all the way south to Sunnyside, covering the abandoned rail line of Union Pacific?  All of the rails have been removed, all that's left is gravel and it could easily be paved.  There was a public meeting about this in May of 2015.  Has this project been abandoned?

The Weber Spur trail would be a lot cheaper than this.

Sounds amazing, but we (the biking community) should force the park district to have clear rules against dogs. Dogs and their stupid owners are a safety hazard and a huge nuisance to cyclists. It would suck if this beautiful projects turns into another 606

Nah. Getting back to shared public spaces for living beings is good, rather than bad.
