Wanted: a bike shop/mechanic to work on Shimano Nexus internal gear hub

I'm looking for recommendations for a good shop or mechanic with experience repairing and rebuilding Shimano Nexus 7-speed hubs. I have two of these hubs that now have thousands of miles on them and are starting to show it. Any recommendations?

Ditto.  Looking for an experienced mechanic who can work on my Nexus 8.  Thanks!

A search for hub found http://www.chicagobikeshops.info/shopDetails.php?id=22 offers 3 speed hub rebuilds.

Thanks. A 7-8 speed hub is pretty different from a 3-speed, but I will check Rudy's out.

Owen @ Blue City Cycles or Notorious DUG at a bike shop near you are the IGH wizards in the Chicagoland area.

Dan at McDonald's Bike Center did a great job with my N8

Where by "a bike shop near you" you mean...? What?

Yes, Dan is the bomb. Is he still there? I used to commute to the Bike Center every day so he rebuilt one of my hubs a couple of years ago. Very impressive. Maybe I'll just trek back down there...

Try Jon Lind (JCLind) or Rapid Transit who have both fixed Nexus 8s for us. Different but same as the 7. In Seattle, Aarons ( http://rideyourbike.com/internalgears.shtml ) is often mentioned, no experience with them.  Or look at Hubstripping and diy? You can get new internals for some of these still.

Dan is still there...

Hi, if you bring it to Rapid Transit at 1344 South Halsted we are experienced with Nexus 7 and 8s, and we have the Shimano oil bath setup and waiting for weary hubs to revitalize in.  We would be more than happy to help, and we guarantee our work.  -Chris Williams
