The Chainlink

Anyone riding through these lately? I came eastbound today from Wells and found the stretch from the metra tracks to State to be much improved! That intersection, however... It's odd as is, but with the added bike lane it loos like right-hook city. Maybe they'll add a bike signal and right turn arrow? I don't know that it makes me more comfortable than before.

I take Harrison west from Dearborn to Canal and really like the lanes that scale back the cars and demarcate the bike lanes. They are going to be 'PBL', yes?

I love this project. They'll be adding a right turn lane to the right of the bike lane. It should make more sense when it's done. You can see the plans here, which include a mix of types of bikeways along the street: http://www.scribd.com/doc/177902217/Harrison-Public-Meeting-FINAL . Won't be perfect, but it's a huge improvement for connecting the Wabash, Dearborn and Desplaines bikeways.

It will only extend west to Des Plaines?

I ride from Dearborn to Clinton and the new bike lanes are AWESOME

Last night I was riding eastbound from Canal to Dearborn. Not very happy to see multiple cars parked in the lane next to the main post office. Grrr!!! Fortunately traffic was light, so it was an annoyance rather than a hazard. Haven't checked it out east of Dearborn yet.

Indeed - plenty of cars still in front of the post office, and several more in the lanes by the Greyhound station. I suspect it'll take some consistent, targeted enforcement to see those cleared.

Lee - this powerpoint is awesome! I hadn't seen it before! I'm pleased that much of it will be barrier protected too. Do you know if the current markings on the above intersection are temporary? It looks like for now they've got the bike lane along the curb, instead of centered between a straight-bound and right-turning lane.
