Randonneuring Defined

Randonneuring: Randonneuring is long-distance unsupported endurance cycling. This style of riding is non-competitive in nature, and self-sufficiency is paramount. When riders participate in randonneuring events, they are part of a long tradition that goes back to the beginning of the sport of cycling in France and Italy. Friendly camaraderie, not competition, is the hallmark of randonneuring.

The preliminary cue sheets and maps for the for the GLR 200k and 300k are available via the links in the route summary table near the top of of the corresponding route pages at glrrando.org. Eric is working to update our GPX files, they should be available shortly.

The route has two small changes and a potential detour. On the way into Brodhead the route will continue west on Avon North Townline to the T intersection on Co. T and then head north to the first control. This will simplify the routing and get us into the control a few minutes earlier. West of Edgerton, the route will continue east on Stebbinsville Rd. to the Y intersection after crossing over Stebbinsville Dam. Finally, the ongoing construction on the lower section of Co. Hwy. M may affect routing. Jim will provide updated routing information at check-in if necessary.

Bonne route!

Anyone else heading out for an early ride on Sunday? I'd like to get out for a mixed surface, quick paced ramble.

Is anybody driving to Delavan on the day-of April 26th and has space for another rider? I plan to do the 200K and guess that it will take 11-12 hours.

I can offer: gas money, a 2 bike rear rack (fits on almost every car)

and driving abilities.

Our 2014 Brevet Schedule is hereby approved and published:

The following ACP Brevet distances and dates will be offered.  The routes will be reviewed with a potential of resurrecting some familiar routes from the past.  The April 26th is a bit sooner than previous years to pre-tease you all in the earlier scheduling required in spring of 2015 for P-B-P qualifications.  Remember, to increase your chances in the ranking of 2015 P-B-P spring registrations, you will want to complete the longest brevet possible in 2014.  You must then complete a "full series" in 2015.  More on this later.  And finally, remember to become a member of RUSA (and GLR) to obtain credit for these rides in the RUSA system.

April 26th...ACP 200K, ACP 300K

May 10th...ACP 200K, ACP 300K

May 31st...ACP 200K, ACP 300K, ACP 400K

June 14th...ACP 200K, ACP 300K, ACP 400K, ACP 600K

June 28th...ACP 200K, no 300K, ACP 400K, ACP 600K

*  200K and 300K brevets will all start at 7AM in Delavan

*  400K and 600K brevets will all start at 6AM in Delavan

hope to see you all in 2014

Does anybody else like to do long rides from Chicago North Side on Wednesdays and Thrusdays? Those are my days off.

Looking forward to some long, slow rides.

I’m totally down for some rides. This summer I had a chance to map out a couple of long rides but would prefer to ride with others.  Ill check back frequently for posts…

Country Inn & Suites is bike friendly, at least in other locations.  I assume you'd be fine at the Delavan franchise.
