The Chainlink

hi everyone

so i searched the forum for this a little and couldn't find anything that related so i am going to ask you all

have you ever used anything like this:

http://www.containerstore.com/shop?productId=10013411&N=&Nt...

to hang your bikes?  i have two to store, but pretty much no wall space, and i thought this might work out but i don't know how practical it would be.  it has a lot of good reviews but i suspect they might be from people who are storing their summertime fun bikes in the garage, not people (like me) who ride almost every time they leave the house.  i'm afraid this pulley thing might be too cumbersome for what it's worth.  any input?

thanks friends.

We have them at the shop, they work well.

There is a different style that has two ropes coming down to pull on and they are much nicer to sue because leveling the bike is much easier.

I happen to have 4 of those, new in the box, that I bought before moving to an apartment with a bike room.

I'd sell them for $10 each if you want to try them out.

Not this specific pulley, but I do have a friend that hoists her bakfiets using a garage door pulley in her loft. She finds it an effective way to store her ginormous bike.

I have used these regularly in the past, both personally and professionally, and I would echo the recommendations above.  I would mention that you would need pretty high ceilings in order for these to actually save you any room (I was in a loft with 20+ft ceilings at the time).  Just imagine that the bike will be hanging from a point about 2-2.5 feet below your ceiling in order to determine whether this will actually save you significant space.

I'd love to! I will measure quickly to see if it's feasible for my apartment. Thank you!
