The Chainlink

Now that I have your attention, and you have stuffed yourself, and you have fallen asleep watching football, and you are back to the Chainlink, hie thee over to the fundraising page.  Just click on that link up there.

There is a lot of cool, bike-related stuff over on the fundraising page.  You can spend a couple of bucks or spend 2500 bucks or just about anywhere in between.  Maybe you can do some Christmas shopping without leaving the comfort of the couch or standing in stupid lines at stores.

You can definitely help Julie retool the Chainlink to do all of those things you said you wanted when you responded to the survey.  She does all this for nothing, you know, and we all get news, education, and entertainment for free on the Chainlink. And, greedy souls that we are, we want more!

So c'mon!  If you can't find the link at the top of the page, just click on this one:

Chainlink already has my first-born son.

Instead of working I figured out that we just need each member of the Chainlink who has not yet coughed up, put their money where their mouths are, helped fund the needed improvements to the Chainlink to come up with $1.58.  That's right--$1.58.

It works like this:

Total members:                            8,156

Number of funders:                           34                   (Yep, 34)

Number of non-funders:                8,122

Funds raised:                          $   2,226

Funds needed:                         $12,774

12,774 divided by 8,122 = 1.5727653 .  . .  so round up to $1.58!

Of course, you don't get anything for $1.58, so you might want to at least round up to $10.

And you unusually well-off lurkers--don't you want to go for a bike ride with Gabe Klein or Randy Neufeld or Jerome McDonald?  Each one a VIP who will ride his bike with you for a couple of bucks (well a lot of bucks) to the Chainlink.

Lisa, I may have to borrow some of this math for our campaign promotion :))

That is as much math as I can manage, Julie, and it is not proprietary ;-)

Yeah, and he was only the second strangest thing I found in the heap of raffle prizes at the Chainlink office yesterday.

Have you read to the bottom of the fundraising campaign home page?  Julie wrote (very well, I think):

Let’s Do This Together.

From conversations with countless members, I am awed at how the power of this great community has changed lives, in ways large and small.

Our members have met friends here (even entire groups of friends), fallen in love, and even started families.  They have recovered stolen bikes, learned what the city is doing to make our streets safer and more accessible,  received advice on the best bike to buy and where to buy it - and then how to fix it when it needs fixing. We’ve shared our favorite routes, and how to ride farther, faster and in all types of weather.

We’ve shared our lives.

We want to improve how we relate to all the big and small things that matter, keep our community inclusive, and continue to run it bottom-up.  Working together, we can realize that vision.

Hey Y'all: Also, instead of (or as well as) just giving cash, how about recycling your unused bike stuff?  I have some new panniers that just didn't work out, and I'm donating them to Julie to put up for sale, the cash going to Chainlink's upgrade.  Let's all pitch in!  Got something you're not using, gathering dust?  Donate.

Not late at all, Mr. Lowe.  I hope some folks will dive in with you.  And Bill--a cycling white elephant sale--one man's garbage is another man's gold they say!

The Chainlink is getting there, but don't make me say it again!  Give the Master Link the money she needs to keep the Chainlink doing all of the things it does best and make it better.

...also late to the game.  But not too late!  The Chainlink is at 45% of its goal at $4.7K.  Let's see it to the finish line before the holidays strike.

Puppies whispering to babies...

"The pots still light, this'll get'em to ante up."

"Otherwise, we start carpet bombing."

Watch the vid here kid.

Ha ha ha!!!!!   We hit the 7,000 mark.   Coming along......

Shameless bump.

The Chainlink is awesome. Julie is awesome. I know it, you know it, you know that I know that you know it.

Please kick even even a few bucks to the cause. If every Chainlinker kicked in $5.00 we could blow the fundraising goal out of the water and have an even better Chainlink. The fundraising is now OVER 50% complete!!!
