The Chainlink

I just downloaded my sample ballot and thought I'd seen one of the names
in my inbox.
The bike community's own Karen Roothan is running for Water Reclamation Commissioner on
the Green ticket.  Go Karen!

Also, a few resources for voting:

Go here and check your registration status, download a sample ballot,
and above all check your polling place (mine was quietly changed for
this year):
http://www.chicagoelections.com/voterinfo.php

I always print this and take it to the polls with me:
http://voteforjudges.org/2012_GENERAL_ELECTION_RATINGS_from_the_All...

And for general endorsements- The IVI-IPO sends its own questionnaires
to candidates and evaluates them based on there response. If you don't
see a candidate on the list, it could mean they didn't bother to return
the questionnaire.

I'm sure others will chime in with their favorite "informed voter"
resources.

Would be great if we could keep any responses focused on voter resources
and otherwise keep the partisan political views to a minimum here....

And also, a free dingy-bell to anyone who can locate the previous thread on this which I think was just bounced recently-- it may have been called "voteforjudges.org." The internal search and google got nuthin.

Google's voting site: https://www.google.com/elections/ed/us/vote

A nice one for language lovers: http://yourfuckingpollingplace.com/

Also, here are the endorsements/recommendations from the Chicago Tribune:

Good tips. One point I'd make is to print a a sample ballot and then to use all these resources above to mark up your choices on the sample ballot. Then take the sample ballot with you into the booth. There are simply too many elections on your ballot to start reading while in the voting booth. I did it last week, and reading up on and selecting the candidates took me well over an hour.

There are only 11 judges on there found to be Not Recommended or recommended not to be retained by the LAGBAC (Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago) . Save a tree, some toner and some electricity and just write down those eleven names! Vote yes for everyone else.

Also, the http://www.chicagoelections.com/voterinfo.php seems to be down at the moment. I'm pretty sure all the information you'd get from there is on your voter card isn't it?

I'll put it aside for you.

How the hell did you find that?

Thanks, Howard.  When we hook up, I expect you to have bell in hand :-).

As to finding it, I searched Alliance of Bar Associations.  I knew I had mentioned it in the posts.

The mobilejudge site?  It is consistent with others except for Kathy Flanagan.  I don't know who they are or why they find her not recommended.  Kathy Flanagan is bright, hard-working, and abrasive.  Take that for what you think it is worth.

Dont' be surprised if you see three odd ball questions on the ballot, at least if you vote in Chicago.

The Reader has an interesting write up on it:

http://www.chicagoreader.com/chicago/moore-and-emanuel-block-electe...

And don't forget the constitutional amendment everyone in Illinois gets to vote on. The Tribune has a mildly critical piece on it:

http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2012-10-28/news/ct-met-illinois-...

If you want a more blunt opinion, read the Chicagoist article on it:

http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2012-10-28/news/ct-met-illinois-...

Not quite. It is also the place where you can print a sample ballot for your specific precinct.

It is still down. This being Chicago, I'm guessing that is down because somebody wanted it to be down.
