The Chainlink

Hold on! The very use of the word "porn" is under attack. Even within well-meaning  organizations from environmental activists to queer support groups our right to adult conversation is under attack. (and by "adult" I mean mature)

Where do you go for adult time? A place where you can expect a degree of maturity and sensibility that comes with being an adult? A place where people don't rush to censor ideas just to be the first to say, "think of the children". Are bars the only "safe" place left?

Porn. Just the word itself causes extreme reactions. Doubtlessly many have already skipped over this message for fear of their eyeballs being tainted, while others hungry for anything sexually related have left the conversation before it started because the word has an association with immediate gratification. For all the freedom we claim to have, it is inconceivable that something as fun, natural and necessary to the survival of our species be so constrained and so censored.

I believe that everyone on this list understands the importance of cycling and yet I will urge you...

TAKE BACK YOUR RIGHT TO BETTER SEX AND BETTER TRANSPORTATION!

Bike Smut will be screening their 6th annual program of short erotic bicycle movies in Chicago on Saturday, September 29th at the Music Box.

Bike Smut is an international touring film festival celebrating human-powered transportation and sex-positive culture. For the past six years they have shared films on the subject of bikes and sex, calling for new submissions annually. The content is completely audience generated. No reproductions or DVD's are available, so you must go to a screening to see them.  Films include of variety of representations of human sexuality, entirely scripted, filmed, edited, directed, and produced by amateur bike pornographers from all over the world!

Bike Smut asks for sex without shame and transportation without homogeny. It explores radical politics while remaining approachable and fun. Bike Smut believes in the importance of bringing communities together to redefine obscenity by creating a consensual space where different interpretations of obscenity can be watched and discussed. It is a joyous exploration into two integral parts of a quality human life.

This is Bike Smut's sixth year of programming. This year's program includes films from seven different European cities and films by two Feminist Porn Award-winning pornographers. Bike Smut is currently on its 'Tour de Trixxx' which will go from Portland to NYC via the US/Canadian border. It offers a unique art experience that combines the spectrum of human sexuality with a love and lust for bicycles.  It is an excellent way to show a little lust for the most eco-friendly mode of transportation available.

Tour de Trixxx sponsors include: Crash Pad Series, CrystalDelights and Early to Bed.

If you believe in these ideals please do what you can to share them. Bring friends to the show, start a conversation about what obscenity means to you, or even make your own movie. After six years we have not had a single leak. Because this is not about just having a great time for a single night, its about learning the tools to communicate your desires and building greater trust within your community.

Thanks for offering this platform for your consideration.

I for one have been looking for some hot bike-on-bike action.

Thanks; It is our pleasure to provide you with some of that.

Hopefully with just a hint of snark. ;-)

I'm all for sex-positive, gender-freedom,  human-positive free-speech.   With the United Nations considering an international law that would criminalize blasphemy, how long will it be before anything that offends the sensibilities of religious radicals becomes illegal or is at least threatened?

Too bad I'm not going to be in town this weekend after CCM and have to head North.  So many good  things I'll be missing in town -not to mention a CX race.

The tandem possibilities alone are endless.

Some people seem to think that they have the right to not be offended, and that anything that they personally find offensive should be banned. Entire religions have been based on this belief.

How can some people find sex offensive when it is vital to the survival of our species? It's like wanting to ban eating in public.

Off topic but I can't resist.

I recall a recent post in which James thanked Zeus, for some thing or other.

Assuming, James, that I remember correctly, do I blaspheme when I say your god does not exist and your religion is silly nonsense?

But that's just me.

the only "GOD" I worship is myself.  period.

I can't say that there isn't a god or other "superior" beings out there in space or some "heaven dimension."  Maybe there is one who created everything in the entire universe, including me -but I would never bow down to him/her.   And if he or she doesn't like it she/he can smite me as I'm kicking it in the shins telling them I'll never submit to being anyone's BITCH ever.   Send me to hell for all eternity but they can shove it.

How is that for blaspheming?

A little something for women "of a certain age..."

I don't think that is a bicycle.

Why must all good things occur on nights when I must be at work? :(
