The Chainlink

There has been a lot of interest to do north side Kidical masses.

Let's chat about dates, and coordinating.

Sarah  Dandelles is on the Welles Park Advisory Council and said  and they are into the idea as well.  I know the ward office has been asked as well to get these rolling.

Ward cleanup is third Saturday in April (the 21st) and we don't want to undermine or compete with those efforts.

A lot of kids in the area and would be willing to spread the word.

Welles would be within the range of our kids, we'd totally come out for it!

I don't understand why KM in Welles would "compete" with ward cleanup. An hour long ride shouldn't infringe on anything. I'd be more concerned about moving it to a day when it competes with other family rides. Eli and Saskia and I have been coordinating to make sure folks can attend as many variations of Kidical Mass each month as they can handle.

I agree it should try not to be on days of other KMs.   Currently, what is the schedule of KMs?

Eli is planning something for Hyde Park but I'm not sure yet what days she's decided on. Logan's mass is the second Saturday of the month.

We (A.P.B.) did one @ Honer Park with was great, in fact a whole lot better if you did one in A.P. (Albany Park) That ward & Alderwomen would be open arms to that as well as the community. Just my view & exp. with the communities around & co-op with ward leaders.

I had been talking with Saskia about starting the Welles Park ride.  I suggested the first ride be the 3rd Sat., April 21.

It definitely shouldn't be on the 2nd Saturday because the new ride will benefit if seasoned volunteers from Palmer can come and help out.  The first and fourth Saturdays could work, though they risk sometimes being the day after Critical Mass which is less ideal.

I don't see a short bike ride being much in competition with a ward clean up.  I suppose we might even be able to coordinate with that event and ride by or end at one of the clean up sites.

Hey all - The alderman and ward off wants to be there to help kick off the kidical mass ride in Welles Park and can do April 28th (4th Saturday).  They also can help with a kids bike block party before or after.

Future dates can be at welles park on the 3rd saturday or another saturday that doesn't conflict with the palmer square rides.

Ok?

Count us in!  Yay!

Does anyone want to help make the flyer or should the ward office make it?  Either way is fine.

I'll try and put a flyer together tonight (or this weekend if I do CCM tonight).

Hey all - Ride Info is up.  Saturday April 28th at Welles Park Gazebo with Alderman Pawar!  Bike Ambassadors will be there, On The Route Bikes will help with minor adjustments, and hopefully we will have bagels, coffee and a kids bike band!
