Had a fun time on Friday. Was a little nervous at the small group, so thanks everyone for being so friendly. It was nice to put some faces to the CL handles.

Got a phone call from my daughter (who's ridden with us before) and she wanted to borrow my car to drive up to Wisconsin since she had a three-day weekend.

So I bailed out when we passed the new(er) Dominick's. I stopped in, got a good salad to take home from there.

Hey all, posting some post-ride notes, and got a few questions...

Surprisingly small turnout given beautiful weather, maybe 22? But that's still pretty decent.
One newbie came specifically having gotten referred to massup.us from somewhere :) :) :) As I wondered if people might, he thought we might be doing the route posted there (leftover from maybe April 2009).

As we gathered I mentioned recent suggestions, that we go through Andersonville for visibility, and hit The Heartland because they're begging for business. I further added my fondness for way west on BrynMawr, and suggested we end at Montrose pier (for miles, and because I love the spot). (Jami! Tony! You were missed!)

We did go south on Clark, and passing from BrynMawr through Foster the car density was SO HIGH that most riders were thoroughly annoyed. It was a crawl. So now we know, that's what South on Clark is like. I feel like we've tried it long before with similar results.

Then we did a chunk of Lawrence, and some side streets, then lost half the pack, then paused to phone and regained most of them.
But never found Bob Kastigar nor Damien. Sorry guys! Feedback?

Eventually I took us by a quiet route to The Heartland, we had a few beers, then I took the remaining (8?) to the nearby house with the fence made of bike frames (west side of Ashland a block south of Touhy): http://bedno.com/photos/album/20100430/13
This was to me the highlight and payoff. Everyone was amazed. Photo above doesn't do it justice, has great detail, and encircles half the house. Funny thing, we were dying to meet the owner and find out more, when someone opened the door, scolded us for being noisy, and brusquely closed it again. So, no further info. We then went on to Sovereign. Something over ten miles total.

Sorry, gotta confess there's a few names I still don't know.
Man with skating history and FBC involvement?
Very tall man, made it to Sovereign (we know each other, I just keep missing your name, and my brain is old)?
Elise, is she on TCL?

Thanks to Michael during August's North Side CM! Replaced one of our group's flat in under 5 minutes in the dark and the mass even waited up! Great experience for our first time out. Great videos John.

Hey guys - I don't know how many of you ride up in Evanston, but the police are cracking down on sidewalk riding. I just had to talk my way out of a $15 ticket. I know, it's not a big deal, but all I did was ride the short stretch from the street up to where I park my bike. So watch out!
