The Chainlink

Share your pics, videos, streets, stories of what you find in the bike lane of the non-bike variety that has an impact on your ride and/or your safety. I've decided to keep it a little more open ended - cars, snow, buses, garbage, cabs, etc. If they shouldn't be in the bike lane, go ahead and add it to this thread. Please be safe if you are taking pics or video! :-)

My hope is that we can collectively build some evidence of what we see when riding in the city with the overall hope of better enforcement of "bikes only" and improving maintenance.

Update: More Hashtags to Capture Vehicles in the Bike Lane

With popular hashtags:
#BikeLaneShaming

#LaneSpreading (Chicago Bike Selling)

#ClearTheWay (ActiveTrans), there are many options to capture violations.

We think you should use ALL of them AND post your photos on The Chainlink. ;-)

I'm sorry CLP, but where exactly do you get this "banned from posting" nonsense from? It's the very reason you are a troll. You like to pick a fight, create conflict, etc. You troll like it's a hobby and I don't remember ever banning you from the site and yet, here you are making stuff up.

Well CLP, it's been YEARS. Time to let that one go.

Say this to the folks at https://www.bikelaneuprising.com/, and every individual that posts infractions.

It's user-generated content. It's a forum. Sooo, how about posting fun and interesting content rather than limiting your posts to criticizing the content of others? I know you have good stuff to share. I know you have lots of bike knowledge. It's just a shame you don't share it here.

In addition to being a troll, clp, you're also a twit. That stretch of Franklin is not a construction zone. The construction material is being illegally staged in the bike lane for a project elsewhere.

There are only two northbound bike lanes in the Loop. Of course the construction company can't find one of the hundreds of other blocks in the Loop that aren't bike lanes to stage the material.

Funny, but I don't recall this thread ever being fun and interesting. What's fun about sh*t illegally parked/stopped/dumped in a bike lane? You must have a very strange sense of humor if forcing cyclists out into traffic gets a chuckle out of you.

It's boring to see you post the same stuff over and over thinking that somehow there is going to be action by the city.

What is it they say about doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results?

Do you even post anything that ISN'T a picture of a car in the bike lane beyond this?

What did you do before there were bike lanes everywhere?

Is it really that hard to just take the lane?

What exactly am I supposed to post in a thread with the title 'What's this doing in the bike lane?" Post photos of cute puppies and kittens?

I post pics to reinforce the fact that blocked bike lanes continue to be a problem in the city.

I'm not required to take the lane. I shouldn't have to take the lane. The vehicles are the ones that are breaking the law. Is that so difficult to comprehend?

Ignore the trolls.

Keep doing what you're doing.

You're not hurting anyone and they have nothing better to do than to complain.

Second this.

125 S Franklin St. 311 reports submitted. Oh, look!!! A cute puppy!!! Isn't than fun and interesting!!!

How dare they deliver the goods that drive commerce.

Park on the other f*cking side of the street. 'Plenty of legal parking there.
