The Chainlink

Share your pics, videos, streets, stories of what you find in the bike lane of the non-bike variety that has an impact on your ride and/or your safety. I've decided to keep it a little more open ended - cars, snow, buses, garbage, cabs, etc. If they shouldn't be in the bike lane, go ahead and add it to this thread. Please be safe if you are taking pics or video! :-)

My hope is that we can collectively build some evidence of what we see when riding in the city with the overall hope of better enforcement of "bikes only" and improving maintenance.

Update: More Hashtags to Capture Vehicles in the Bike Lane

With popular hashtags:
#BikeLaneShaming

#LaneSpreading (Chicago Bike Selling)

#ClearTheWay (ActiveTrans), there are many options to capture violations.

We think you should use ALL of them AND post your photos on The Chainlink. ;-)

701 W Harrison St. 311 report submitted. 'No idea why the CTA vehicle can't park in the bus staging area on the northwest corner of the intersection.

798 S Halsted St. 311 report submitted.

1200 W Harrison St. 311 report submitted.

1119 W Hubbard St. 311 report submitted. Why do city workers think they can break the law while enforcing other laws?

1051 W Hubbard St. 311 report submitted. 9 reports in less than 30 minutes in the bikes lanes today. I have no f*cking idea what the Finance Dept. workers are doing all day to write so few tickets.

I called on the construction crew trucks in the 1200+ N Elston that were parked ON TOP of the concrete barriers and of course, blocking the bike lanes. I was driving my car today. You guys owe me one.

Today I saw a UIC Police officer giving a ticket to a driver standing in the bike lane in front of the Jane Addams Hull House Museum!  There was another vehicle in front of that one which he didn't approach. I was watching from a little ways away and after a few minutes I surmised (but din't confirm) that the second vehicle was likely empty and he might perhaps hopefully give the driver a ticket upon their return.

Go you UIC Police!!

I work on campus, and I've only seen that happen once... but the bike lanes are *mostly* clear.

125 S Franklin St. 311 report submitted. Curb? What f*cking curb?

Seems like every morning, this is a spot for deliveries on 84 E. Washington St. This was at 8:15AM today.

Frustrating that the city doesn't target these hotspots.

151 N Franklin St. 311 report submitted.
