What Kind of Riding/Adventure Are You Most Looking Forward To When It Warms Up?

Sure, it's snowy and cold out but let's flash forward to a warmer month, green trees, warm weather and your bike... what would you do? Mountain bike? Road bike up to Highland? Pedal to Wisconsin? Ride the Lakefront Trail to Indiana?

#BikeChi is the best, especially in the spring/summer/fall

Yeah there are a couple threads here about it but they were last active back in 2010, 2012 or so... Bob mentioned heading south to Morris from Aurora and catching the Canal trail there, which might work for me since i have family along that route. I'd also be interested in any updates.

This I&M Canal Trail washout just east of Utica is passable with good balance! ;)

LOL!

You can bike around the washout area. There are detour signs which bring you right through the town then right back on the trail. Some folks of us biked from Chicago to Starved Rock to camp. The trails are all good and if anything you can always bike around it on the roads.

Thanks, that's encouraging!

Any word if repairs are scheduled? Who would one lobby for that?

IL is broke so not a priority no doubt. You could contact DNR to see what they suggest? https://www.dnr.illinois.gov/Pages/Feedback.aspx    BTW, list of closures is kept on their site: https://www.dnr.illinois.gov/closures/Pages/CurrentClosuresOfDNRSit...

Gonna cross the lake from the mouth of the Chicago River, pack my bike and camping gear on a kayak/raft (or make a small canoe with sail) then padddle out and make landfall at Indiana Dunes beach, camp, then bike back to Chicago. Looking for 4 other crazy people who want to go. Anybody on the Chainlink wanna link up and talk? Summertime will be best, We'll fish along the way and hopefully catch a trout. -"The Fisherman's Jig". I'm gonna need real troppers for this one

Ride to Cleveland, where I left my heart. I last performed this on a sexy silver Zeus back in '92.

Ride from Pittsburgh to D.C. via the Great Allegheny Passage and C&O Towpath.

Ride from Chicago to Charlevoix, MI (between the Grand Traverse and Little Traverse Bays in Northern Michigan.)

Love the GAP/C&O. Great ride. :)

Yeah, I rode from Shepardstown, WV to DC (about 73 miles) on the C&O back in 2014. Loved it. The compleatist in me wants to ride the entire length. My 16 year-old sons may be accepted into a summer program at Carnegie-Mellon this summer, which would give me the perfect excuse for a road trip east.
