"I used to commute from Logan Square to Pulaski/45th. Kedzie is probably your best bet N/S. There's always a lot of people out - the courthouse and bus terminal are both South of Madison, and tons of commuters around the Kedzie Green Line.…"

"If I had to do it tomorrow without any more planning, I would take Damen all the way to Jackson on the way in, and go west on Jackson.  Would that get you close?  You can usually fly on Jackson east and west bound.    "

Anyone biking near Homan and Van Buren?

I hate to start a thread on whether anyone has ridden a particular area, but I work near Van Buren and Homan.  Haven't gotten the guts to ride here because it is not the safest neighborhood, and there are drug deals near my workplace, and shootings have happened (though likely not at the time I would arrive or leave).  I live northside near the lake.  I was thinking of taking Damen south to Grand, then Hoyne (one block away) south to Washington, then Washington west to Homan, then a walking…See More

"I work on the West Side where I see so many stolen Divvies.  I've reported to Divvy many sightings, like bikes outside a basement level door or a back of building upper walkway.   A person putting the Divvy on a bus must have stolen…"

"2 things - Yes, underwear undoes what a chamois is doing and creates friction so if you don't want a sore, best not to wear underwear with your chamois. Consider the chamois the underwear.  Wash your chamois after every use. Bacteria. You…"

"Thanks both for your recommendations. I will add friction reducing cream under the chamois. I am wearing underwear under the chamois. One of you thought that would add friction. I'll have to give it thought. I would think the seat pressure…"

"Ouch! Here are some possible causes/solutions... Have you tried chamois creme? That can really help reduce friction. Also, take an extra shower when you get home because sometimes it is bacteria-related - especially with the warm weather. It…"

Divvy seat is a bummer - pun intended

I take the Divvy to work and back on days when there are rumors of rain not because I am worried about myself melting but because I have no option but to keep my bike outdoors during the day while I work.  Anyway, what I am writing about is the pain in the tuccus caused by the Divvy seat.  I can barely make one trip (forty minutes) without feeling a rash later on in the groin area.  Two to three trips on consecutive days will be too much.  Anyone else have that problem?  Or am I the only one…See More

Free 70cc inner tubes

Because I love you all so much, the first person to text me directly within this website will receive by snail  mail 3 boxes of Giant (name of manufacturer) 700cc x 35-45 Schrader valve Standard inner tubes of .89 mm wall thickness (Schrader valves are 35mm). I have kept these with me like a moron even though I got a new bike almost a year ago and forgot my inner tube will be different!  So I will mail all 3 in their boxes to the first person who contacts me.  Thanks!  See More
