Multi-Day Trail Ride...suggestions needed please

I am thinking of putting together a week on the bike this late spring. The idea is to take as many rails to trails style paths as possible. Area is Central Wisconsin. So far I have read about The 400, Elroy-Sparta and Nicolet trails. Ideally, I would take the Amtrak/Metra to some drop-off spot and get going north and west. Any ideas or suggestions on connecting trails so as to make this longer than a one-day ride? I am not averse to riding on country roads but prefer the safety of the R2T type…See More

"I got both today! The bird from a dude who nearly clipped me riding too close and my response was the verbal equivalent of the bird (YCGFYT - figure it out.)  Ah, I felt better the minute I screamed it out."

"It was passable on a bike this morning around 9AM. There was some ice but also a lot of salt. They were out throwing down more salt as I went by so I suspect the conditions will get better as the day goes on. I also echo the sentiments of P.J.C and…"

"Check the #chilft hashtag on Twitter. You do not even need a Twitter account to see people's posts. There are a number of regular lakefront trail riders who update conditions at the Oak St. curve and other places. It looks like there is a layer…"

"I ride Divvy a fair amount. But with a twist. I try to do what I call my Divvy-Duathlon. Ride for a mile, dock, run for a mile, get a bike, ride, dock, run, get a bike...you get the idea. This is my commute to/fr work. The workout is excellent and…"

"No no no, you are looking at this all wrong. When I was riding much more, I would get on the LFP (winter) and would downright draft and race other commuters from Burnham to Addison. I am talking full-on you lead, I lead, you lead, I lead. And if I…"

"Loved your travel notes, Bob. That was one heckuva trip. Biloxi, huh? That is my hometown. I had friends that would trek from NO to Biloxi on highway 90 through the rigolets. I used to run the levee (or ride it as far upriver until the…"

"I called on the construction crew trucks in the 1200+ N Elston that were parked ON TOP of the concrete barriers and of course, blocking the bike lanes. I was driving my car today. You guys owe me one. "

"The Green Bay/McClorey ends just south of Kenosha, but it's not too far from town and safe enough to ride the rest of the way. Most of it is not paved and north of the naval station there are no trees so it's hot and dusty in the summer.…"

"You can definitely take the Greenbay Trail into Wisconsin (it does break a couple of times and undergo name changes though).. You can pretty much take trails all the way to Milwaukee."
