Hi Sara. So sorry I'm so slow to reply to your query about commuting on the south part of the lakefront path in the dark.....I actually have not yet been on that section of the path after sunset yet....but in talking with some other cycling women I'm told the path is very dark there and they advise against it, in part because of the dark and in part because the area is secluded and could make a cyclist easier "prey". I work just a few blocks from MLK Blvd and that street has been recommended to me (it does have bike lanes). I've ridden that before, though usually in daylight. Looks like I'll be getting a chance to ride it in the dark now that daylight savings time is ending this weekend. I really hope that route will work and that I'll feel safe on it....
