Did anyone on here ride this stretch of middle Randolph yesterday afternoon? I acknowledge that traffic was pretty abnormally awful during the afternoon rush due to the Bears game, but wow... This…Continue

Hey Chainlink,I'm wondering if anyone has done any riding around the Traverse City area and has suggestions for routes?I know there are a lot of scenic roads especially around that area, but not sure…Continue

Divvy could get $50M expansion, including e-assist and dockless bikes in all 50 wards

The proposal would add 175 new stations and an additional 10,500 new bikes. (The current system has 6,000 bikes). The bikes would include e-assist and a hybrid locking system that allows use in Divvy…Continue

"This upcoming meeting next week is the third (and final) in a series of meetings focusing specifically on the ramp configuration at Montrose, Wilson and Lawrence. The overall project schedule shows that there will be at least 4 more corridor-wide…"

Mark replied to Phillip Hutchinson's discussion Randolph - Loop to LFT
"The bike lane should be routed over Upper Randolph with a ramp down to Middle Randolph and LSD running behind the tennis courts.  This would provide LFT access to/from both the Bike Station and Millennium Park."

"I hear you Mike.  That bike lane is really in the wrong place for a bike lane in my opinion.  The area is chaos quite frequently.  What looks good in a CDOT conference room or computer screen isn't necessarily the best in…"

Randolph - Loop to LFT

Did anyone on here ride this stretch of middle Randolph yesterday afternoon? I acknowledge that traffic was pretty abnormally awful during the afternoon rush due to the Bears game, but wow... This buffered bike lane was installed in July 2018. Unfortunately, most all of the flexible posts have since been run down and are missing, and when the right turn lane onto SB LSD starts to queue up, motorists think the bike lane is a right turn lane, so they all move over right up to the curb. There are…See More

Phillip Hutchinson replied to dav's discussion I'm going to start riding in The Loop every day in 1 week. I want your tips.
"Pro tips?Use Divvy. The bike valet stations take bike parking out of the equation, and also allows one-way bike commuting if there's weather or you have other plans, etc. It's also nice to never have to clean a messy bike in the winter. I…"

Phillip Hutchinson replied to Bob Kastigar's discussion Sharrows in the bike lane
"I think it's a mistake. Rather than sharrows, I think it should be a single arrow pointing in the direction of travel. Looking on Google Streetview, there are a few spots just north of Lincoln (Kedzie/Hood) where single arrows are used, then…"

Phillip Hutchinson replied to Jim Reho's discussion E-bikes taking the lead in bikeshare
"Divvy is about to roll out 10,500 pedal assist e-bikes in Chicago. I believe their plan is to eventually replace all of their traditional pedal bikes with e-bikes.  They are speed restricted to 18mph. I think it's awesome and look…"

Phillip Hutchinson replied to Dawn's discussion Continued concerns about the trail separation
"It's a matter of perspective. I don't commute on that section of LFT but if I did I'd likely just ride the ped path west of Cricket Hill to avoid the conflicts you note and take a more direct route.  The only time I'm up…"

Phillip Hutchinson replied to Dawn's discussion Continued concerns about the trail separation
"Agreed. The inconsistent lane configurations cause confusion, especially for infrequent users.  The separated stretch between Fullerton and North Ave is great, but the mixing zones at Fullerton and just south of North Ave Beach are a bit…"

Phillip Hutchinson replied to Dawn's discussion Continued concerns about the trail separation

Phillip Hutchinson replied to JeffB's discussion Northerly Island path collapse

Phillip Hutchinson replied to Jim Reho's discussion The future (or already present) of scooters
