Is DIVVY busted?

I know it's been cold, but DIVVY is still the best way (for me, at least) to hop across the Loop between Ogilvie and my office (Dearborn & Adams). Yesterday, I was unable to check out a bike at…Continue

This isn't directly bike-related, but I have no better place to vent.I was walking to the Metra just before 6am this morning. Driver distraction has gotten so bad, that even when I walk, if it's dark…Continue

Shout Out to The Recyclery

Been meaning to drop off some parts at The Recyclery for awhile, and recently acquired a bike which needed wheels. I finally ran over there today. They were appreciative of the parts donation, and I couldn't have been more pleased with the help I got finding wheels. No less than three people helped me at various times. On top of it all, the price for the wheels was terrific. If you need used parts, a used bike, or access to open shop to keep  from wrecking your kitchen with greasy hands and…See More

"The credit card is used for any over-charges, or for a lost bike. I'm in the same boat, as my membership is good through July. However, without a valid CC on file the fob is disabled."

"I don't think so, but I will check. (I have an annual membership which isn't up for renewal.) It failed again on the way to the train this afternoon  so I called. The person I spoke to said that dock was down."

Is DIVVY busted?

I know it's been cold, but DIVVY is still the best way (for me, at least) to hop across the Loop between Ogilvie and my office (Dearborn & Adams). Yesterday, I was unable to check out a bike at Washington & Wacker (tried several bikes, all refused to authorize). I was fine on my way back yesterday afternoon, grabbing a bike from the dock at Dearborn & Madison (by the Chagal mosaic). This morning, I was unsuccessful at the two big racks at Canal & Washington and Clinton &…See More

Skip Montanaro 14.5mi replied to Yasmeen's discussion Mayoral Candidates - Who Is Bike Savvy? Thoughts?
"I'm not a Chicago resident (Evanston, though I work in the Loop). I think Richie and Rahm have both been good for the cycling community. I rather suspect the next crop of mayoral candidates will have difficulty living up to their legacies. That…"

Skip Montanaro 14.5mi replied to Gage B.'s discussion Aggressive left turns.
"I think part of it is that most drivers are only used to interacting with other cars. The kind of moves which scare the beejezus out of us bike riders are largely inconsequential when they involve two cars at low speed."

"maxy, super maxy, mighty competition, super mighty competition, grand mighty (75?)..any others?" that's from a bikeforums thread. it seems like there are tons of variants on 'mighty' 'grand' etc. their model names are so grandiose.
