Is there a linear view setting?

I find it extraordinarily difficult to come back to a busy thread which I've not followed closely. The most recent posts may well not be anywhere near the last page. I'd like to be able to view a…Continue

Shout Out to The Recyclery

Been meaning to drop off some parts at The Recyclery for awhile, and recently acquired a bike which needed wheels. I finally ran over there today. They were appreciative of the parts donation, and I…Continue

Is DIVVY busted?

I know it's been cold, but DIVVY is still the best way (for me, at least) to hop across the Loop between Ogilvie and my office (Dearborn & Adams). Yesterday, I was unable to check out a bike at…Continue

"I started using DIVVY while recovering from my crash in 2017. Once I could pedal, it was just a whole lot easier on my healing leg to turn a crank than to walk or use crutches. One day, I get to Evanston Davis Street Metra, hobble over to the DIVVY…"

"Interesting @Argonne69. Sort of a cross between docked and dockless bikes? (I presume you couldn't just park it unlocked.)"

"Piggybacking on a not-quite-current DIVVY thread... I've been trying to sneak out for a few minutes at lunch. I work at Dearborn and Adams, so have a couple racks right nearby. Monday and today, when I returned, I found every rack nearby full…"

On functioning of bike share brakes

Saw this on The Paceline just now:https://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=236731The topic is nominally about e-bike systems, but applies (I think) to non-assist systems like DIVVY as well. The saving grace might only be that speeds are lower.Moral of the story: If you get a DIVVY bike with grabby brake, dock it and hit the wrench button.See More

Skip Montanaro 14.5mi replied to David S.'s discussion Thinking outside the box on sustainable transit
"I like the idea of making some streets bike/ped only. Not sure 4/5 is necessary. I also like congestion pricing: https://nyti.ms/2CW7YEB My guess is that if it reduces congestion in the downtown area where it's implemented, it will have…"

Is there a linear view setting?

I find it extraordinarily difficult to come back to a busy thread which I've not followed closely. The most recent posts may well not be anywhere near the last page. I'd like to be able to view a thread in chronological order, not threaded by post/reply relationships. I poked around my settings, but saw nothing. I don't see anything in the thread either. Surely I've missed something.See More

Skip Montanaro 14.5mi replied to Juan 2-3 or more mi.'s discussion How do you mount your pony?
"OK, I watched the video. I was thinking in terms of always mounting with a foot already on a pedal. So for me, since I mount from the non-drive side, my left foot goes on the pedal, I push off with my right foot, then swing my right leg over the…"

"I'm probably just being thick-headed but it's not clear to me how that would work. Let's see, hands on the bars, left foot on left pedal. How do I get my right leg past my arms?"

Skip Montanaro 14.5mi replied to Juan 2-3 or more mi.'s discussion How do you mount your pony?
"I am so far still able to lift my leg over from the left side. I've tried a right side mount a couple times, but quickly circled back to the left. I think learning to ride fixed might be easier."

"maxy, super maxy, mighty competition, super mighty competition, grand mighty (75?)..any others?" that's from a bikeforums thread. it seems like there are tons of variants on 'mighty' 'grand' etc. their model names are so grandiose.
