1) What's up with those bikes with that extra set of handlebars perpendicular to the regular handlebars, the ones that make the cyclist practically lie down in order to grab? Usually used by people…Continue

BikeScnhook replied to bobweiser's discussion How far you've ridden in 2018
"Thanks! What made my neck pain go away? Combination of ibuprofen, physical therapy, heating pad, and time. (I'm still not 100%, but it's good enough that if I had to spend the next several decades feeling what I'm feeling, I can deal…"

BikeScnhook replied to bobweiser's discussion How far you've ridden in 2018
"My 2018 total: 1763.8 miles. I was shooting for 1700, so I exceeded that goal. I got a mystery neck injury that kept me off the bike for about six weeks or else I'm sure I would have made it to 1850."

BikeScnhook replied to dav's discussion How often do you smell weed on your commute?

BikeScnhook replied to Yasmeen's discussion What's this doing in the bike lane?
"I successfully reported a bike lane violation this morning via the iOS app, with a picture. (Southeast corner of Illinois and Rush -- ALL THE TIME vehicles are parked there, usually a rideshare waiting for a customer.)"

BikeScnhook replied to Yasmeen's discussion What's this doing in the bike lane?
"Weirdest thing happened... Outside of where I work, there's a bike lane on Illinois Street. And all the time there are rideshares being dropped off in that bike lane near the southeast corner of Illinois and Rush, and it's irritating to…"

About me:
I'm a lifelong Libra. Been cycling in Chicago since 2014; before then, I hadn't touched a bike since, oh....about 1987.

Oh, and I also obey traffic laws on my bike (including stop signs); DESPISE Critical Mass (although I'd be all for it if they did Critical Manners here in Chicago); sometimes drive a gas-powered car; and believe the Lakefront Trail is a PATH, not the Tour de freakin' France...can you deal?

My bike is a 2014 Trek Shift 2 hybrid; got a hybrid because I had read that a hybrid is a good choice for people who haven't been on a bike in a while. My bike's name is Syd. And if you understand why I named my bike Syd, then...well, you and I should probably go out and grab a Guinness; I'd invite my wife to join us but she doesn't like Guinness.
