This is an update on anyone that would like to volunteer for us. You don't even have to work on bikes to help us in Bike The Drive. It does help if you ride, But not always necessarily. So please contact me as soon as possible.
Thanks

Cycling Friends,

Albany Park Bikes, a new youth and community bicycling effort, has an opportunity to receive much-needed financial support by providing light mechanical support to the MB financial/ Active Transportation Alliance "Bike the Drive" coming up on May 30.

We are in need of 2 sets of volunteers:

-3-6 individuals to staff a repair station at one of the exit/access points of the ride course

-6-10 individuals to provide rolling mechanical support

In both cases, your skill level should be adequate to patch or replace a tube, and possibly help with other minor problems such as adjusting or tightening basic bike parts.

More about Albany Park Bikes:

Please contact me at your earliest convenience to let me know you can help!

Sincerely,

Tony Riccardo

Albany Park Bikes (A.P.B.) is looking for some volunteers to help us on May 30Th. We are going to help out in Bike The Drive for Active Trans. If you know how to fix/change a flat tire. I'm working on having 3-4 people at an exit with bike stands doing minor repairs, etc. The rest will be riding the Drive as ride Marshall's. I'll have more information this week.
Please contact Tony @ (847)902-5668

Jumping in late, but wanted to send a quick note of thanks for Tony's initiative in setting up the activity. It sounds like this event continually evolves - I'm willing to weather all the growth (pot holes and all) - I really appreciate the opportunity to meet great cyclists with whom to hit the road!

Heya folks,
It's been a long time since the last Friday CM ride has made it up to Devon for Indian food, and also a longtime since anyone "new" has stepped up and composed a route-- would be nice to see both things happen on the 26th-- anyone interested in helping?
The best routes are always the ones composed by the folks who have the most first-hand, intimate, day-to-day knowledge of the place we're riding/ riding to.

I did have a route ! !! But due to a family emergency I had called Hector at 5:20pm. To let him know that I might be 1 hour behind. I wasn't that far behind. But the point is when something comes up you just can't help it.

Know 2nd comment! !!

I agree with you to an extend on riding. Like Hector said when it's cold out we only do routes 10 miles or under that.

In the summer time I do map routes 15-20 miles. I map & ride all of our N.S.C.M. before that day. Don't get me wrong that winter I don't map & route it, Because I do.

3nd comment ! !

I do agree that the beer stops are out of control lately . That if you want to drink that's fine, But PLEASE get your beer, whatever before or just wait til we hit our ending point. Which I usually find nice spots with beer & food. I don't drink, But I do eat and I try my hardest to keep people happy & bring there friends out on these rides. I would like that people come all over to this ride & talk about it for days how much fun that they had. I don't get payed for this . It's just something that I enjoy is seeing more & more bicycles on the streets in local neighborhoods . Last year we would go down the side streets & the kids would come out & Hi five us & cheer it was great. Sometime we ever talked other riders into joining us & they loved it.

So I'm SORRY for having a family Emergency & that the ride wasn't what it was turned out to be. I did put a lot all time & energy on that ride. I myself was very disappointed that it when the way it did.

I do put a lot of time in this N.S.C.M. Ride. I don't want it to become like C.C.M. Last year when Hector & I took over this or control whatever you want to call it. We started with 20 riders if that at times, And at the end of summer we had 70+ riders! !! In that was 2 trailers with sound, and 1 Happy ~ Friday trailer, 1 kids trailer with 2 kids in it. This is what I'm trying to develop is more families and singles as well.
