Thanks for the info, Todd. I'm actually against the Olympics, and the ride is oriented to informing folks about the effects on the community, especially poor folks and people of color on the South Side. The public parks that will be taken out of public use for who-knows how long. At any rate, the ride will visually demonstrate the effects to people involved, so you can make up your own mind, but I will put out info the Daley machine won't. That's my idea. I'll go through the CM listserv. See ya on the road! Cheers.

Corrie, you should discuss your ride plans on the Chicago Critical Mass listserv. Instructions are half way down this page.

There is no regular theme for the March ride. Somebody proposed doing an Earthday ride this year but I don't know if anyone is following up on that or not.

Do a map for an olympics themed ride and even if its not used in March, there's no reason why you couldn't pitch it again. There's not a whole lot of map making competition lately so your odds are good.

While there are lots of businesses hoping to cash in on olympic fever, be aware the Chicago olympic bid is fairly contentious with many people dead set against it. Will your ride be promoting a point of view?

I don't have a strong view either way on the olympics (just mildly cynical) but if you plan a themed ride and know of any music (or performers) for the ride let me know. I tote one of the sound rigs and I want to play music for themed rides whenever possible.

Hey ya'll. So I just moved here from San Francisco, and love Chicago and really love and have been inspired by CM here. I'm interested in putting together a route for March city-wide mass focused on the impact of the Olympics being here in 2016...I thought I would start here and then start a forum about it. Is there somewhere in particular that people talk about routes? Are there specific theme that usually happen, other than the Halloween ride, for instance?

Coming from L.A. this was by far the best experience I've had. Can't wait for Feb!

It was a very good ride. Despite the cold, many more people than I expected to be there showed up. and the vibe stayed good the whole ride. Good work everyone!
