Information

Chicagoland Beer Exploration Society

Every member of the Society (CBES) should aspire to have a beer at every brewery or brewpub located in a day or two bicycle ride distance from Chicago (and, of course, within the city limits).

Naturally, preferable way of getting to is by bike, as for riding back . . . whatever is available, train, bus, horse and buggy, depending on amount of beverages consumed at the destination.

and the evening before the Eighth Step and Chain O'Brews rides: enjoy sampling some of the finest barrel aged saisons and wild ales...

I saw a guy ran 107 miles at Ragbrai on the 2nd day.

i think that's the key, beer ≠ brewpubs. Brixie’s would make it 95 miles. something like that?

ok, not 9/7. do you want to lead a ride after your run? or are you thinking this ride? a century after a half marathon?

maybe the 7th, the 21st, or the 28th?

is there beer in joliet?

Consider it a metric century? You'll be overachieving;-)

what date in September?

Comment by bobweiser on August 8, 2013 at 3:16pm

september is national century month, so i was thinking about making the ninth step ride a century. clock tower to 3 floyds to flossmoor station back to clock tower would be about 80. any ideas about how to add another 20?

A last-minute inspiration! Go out with the Chicago Cycling Club to Hegewisch and Beyond, then continue to Crown Brewing in Crown Point. Then find our way back somehow.

73.6 miles round-trip, more or less, from the 31st St. starting point. 15 to 19 mph with George.
