Every member of the Society (CBES) should aspire to have a beer at every brewery or brewpub located in a day or two bicycle ride distance from Chicago (and, of course, within the city limits).
Naturally, preferable way of getting to is by bike, as for riding back . . . whatever is available, train, bus, horse and buggy, depending on amount of beverages consumed at the destination.

Or bike all the way to Joliet. Then take the old plank trail to Flossmoor.
On the way there stop at Tribes Alehouse in Mokena
The Centennial trail is nice, but closed in a couple of sections. The I&M is a nice ride. There is a good beer bar not far off your proposed route : http://brixies.com/
It is bike friendly, I've know of groups of 7 or more cyclists to stop there after a ride on these paths.
I'm also looking for ideas on where to stop along the way. Destination would be Buckledown Brewing in Lyons but that's 30 miles so we'll need to stop for lunch. Nevin's Brewing in Plainfield looked good but too far out of the way. Gordon Biersch looks too much like a Buffalo Wild Wings to me. So far best stop for lunch I can find is the Tap House Grill in Lemont. They've got a good beer list.
Proposed route. We would then ride back into Chicago from Lyons.
What do you guys think about the ride and places to stop?
Are the I&M Canal and Centennial Trails in the SW burbs any fun to ride?
I'd like to take the Metra out to Joliet then ride back to Chicago but I've never ridden those trails. Thinking of squeezing this in on Sat Nov 23.
thinking now i might do the North Shore Century after all. not sure about 50, 62, or 70. probably i'll ride up. probably on the early side, i'd like to be back by 3. it's kind of pricey, but it should be a beautiful morning. and i don't see any cbes options. anybody else interested?
I'm riding to navy pier sat for world music fest at the beer garden @ 1pm, then to conway center 1104 s wabash for another act @ 3pm, then on to Logan center 915 e 60th st ,via the lakefront trail, for a show @ 6pm. great music and drink. meeting at buckingham fountain @ 12:15 leaving 12:25. I'm riding a red cruiser w/ a white basket JD
I leaving my ride's itinerary somewhat open but I would very much like to try Village Vintner. Even though you said the beer wasn't outstanding I do find the list interesting.
Chain o Lakes would add 18 miles to the ride which shouldn't be a problem. Their taproom opening at noon on Saturday is another matter.
Prairie Fox is posted!
Geneva Ale House isn't that special IMO. More of a chicken wing sports bar with a fancy beer list. We walked in and right out again.
I would go to Stockholm's over Geneva Ale House, because it Stockholms is an actual brewpub.
Hahaha, and change the name to CB(orW)ES?
