Information

Chicagoland Beer Exploration Society

Every member of the Society (CBES) should aspire to have a beer at every brewery or brewpub located in a day or two bicycle ride distance from Chicago (and, of course, within the city limits).

Naturally, preferable way of getting to is by bike, as for riding back . . . whatever is available, train, bus, horse and buggy, depending on amount of beverages consumed at the destination.

I'm doing my first ride with the CBES on the 19th and I've got a couple quick questions. What speed do you all typically ride at? What type of bikes are people on? Should I bring anything besides a flat kit? Does everyone stick together?

So, having broken and sprained a lot of myself, I can say that they can't see all breaks instantly with X-rays especially greenleaf fractures and hairlines. They seem to always want to boot or immobilize to prevent stuff. After a week, hairlines can show on X-rays. Soft tissue damage doesn't really show unless you go MRI and more expensive modalities. As a guy who disregard the soft tissue healing process and now has clicks and range of mobility crap--I recommend taking it dang seriously. Sorry to read. And heal fast.

Get better soon!  Im glad to hear that there were no broken bones, but soft tissue injuries deserve respect, too.

fyi went to the orthopedic surgeon for my follow-up appointment this morning. they looked at my x-rays, they took my casts off, they had me move my wrist and ankle, they let me hobble about a little -- and they told me i was good to go! after all that, just (very) bad sprains!

Ah yes I forgot about that ride. Well then next 2 months of Saturdays are chock full.

With the exception of May 10, there is a brewpub ride scheduled every Saturday between now and May 31. This is going to be a fun spring!
