Chicagoland Beer Exploration Society

Every member of the Society (CBES) should aspire to have a beer at every brewery or brewpub located in a day or two bicycle ride distance from Chicago (and, of course, within the city limits).

Naturally, preferable way of getting to is by bike, as for riding back . . . whatever is available, train, bus, horse and buggy, depending on amount of beverages consumed at the destination.

Looks like your route includes both the gravel path and single track through Palos. That's awesome! I might join you guys...

I've ridden all of the trails in Palos on a cx bike with 35mm tires, it's do-able (and fun!), but it will be challenging for anyone on a more skinny-tired bike. Especially if you're not used to single track riding.

Rich - thanks for the review on Koval, I'm going to try their tour in the next couple of months. I'll try the rye while I'm there.

Serge, I would probably be in for a ride next Sunday. I need to get more training miles in before my 200K on June 28th!

I'd also be cool with trying out the Palos Hills trails. I just read some reviews here and here that mention some widetrack trails and a crushed limestone trail "suitable for advanced beginners." Worst case if it gets too rough we can turn around and double back.

As for Lagunitas ... they've been taking so darn long to open their tap room that the most I can muster is meh.

hmm

Apparently Lagunitas does not yet have an occupancy permit.

Despite a tweet to the contrary,Lagunitas Brewery won't be opening its taproom June 18, but the space will definitely be up and running before the end of this month, an official said Wednesday.
