Information

Chicagoland Beer Exploration Society

Every member of the Society (CBES) should aspire to have a beer at every brewery or brewpub located in a day or two bicycle ride distance from Chicago (and, of course, within the city limits).

Naturally, preferable way of getting to is by bike, as for riding back . . . whatever is available, train, bus, horse and buggy, depending on amount of beverages consumed at the destination.

Routes on Ride with GPS, here.

On Facebook, here.

On Twitter, here.

Lists of breweries and brewpubs (and other beer things): on Facebook, and on Twitter.

Up-to-date map (with a list, postal- and web-addresses and phone numbers, where available). Five hundred thirty (530!) so far.

The route has been reviewed and finalized.

Don't forget to eat breakfast, as the first brewery, Holzlager, had no food.

There's food at the next one, ShadowView.

No comida at neither Sew Hop'd nor Black & Gray, but there's a nice BBQ joint just south of the latter.

And yet another place to eat something right next to the Elgin Metra, el Camaroncito Loco.

i'm out this time, enjoy!

Yeah, I think I prefer this route: start in Woodstock, finish in Elgin (or continue south along the river to Geneva?).

Those who'd like to join me, let's meet at the OTC at 10 a.m.

UP-NW (Harvard line) leaves at 10:30.

Bob are you there?

I’m leaving now ...

let's see, 8:40 arrives geneva 9:47. 41.1 miles by bike = 3 h 46 m says google. actually maybe more like 2 h 52 m? which would mean leaving 6:54. sunrise 6:21. wind 5 mph WNW. hmm, anybody else?

66.1 miles total. add another half to make it 66.6?

Aquí. Still need to check the cues, though.

ah, a loop

Comment by Serge Lubomudrov on September 6, 2019 at 1:10am

Geneva. If you will take the train back from Aurora, it will be, roughly speaking, 25 miles. If you ride back to Geneva to catch the train there, less than 20. The whole loop should be ~50.
