Chicagoland Beer Exploration Society

Every member of the Society (CBES) should aspire to have a beer at every brewery or brewpub located in a day or two bicycle ride distance from Chicago (and, of course, within the city limits).

Naturally, preferable way of getting to is by bike, as for riding back . . . whatever is available, train, bus, horse and buggy, depending on amount of beverages consumed at the destination.

If I were working first shift, I would.

right, would you like to join me? anybody else?

Comment by Serge Lubomudrov 3 hours ago

You want to ride to Roselle, Robert?

...Anyway, they reconsidered the showers' schedule again.

I think I'll go, anyway. In the worst case, will take the train back midway.

looking at the route, thinking about riding back, too. 27.6 out + 22 to More + 21 back = 70.6 total.

i see now:

Variable clouds with scattered thunderstorms. High 79F. Winds SSW at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 60%.

for me, probably it'll come down to whether it's raining when it's time to leave. rain on the way when it's 76 °F wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. since Roselare doesn't open until noon, i could leave as late as 10:08. big SSW wind, hmm.

...And here's the next expedition's route:

Comment by Serge Lubomudrov yesterday

Looks like showers have been re-scheduled for Sunday.

Those who'd like to continue to explore, let's meet at 10 a.m. (or soon after) at the Union Station. MD-W (Elgin line) train leaves at 10:30.

Pollyanna (the fist stop), opens at noon, so we'll have to wait for about half hour, as it's very close to the station. It has no food.

Second stop, the Wolfden, has snacks.

Real food only at the third stop, 25 West, but it's only about 6 miles ride from the start.

Optional stops afterwards: Two Hound Red, More, Church Street, Itasca.

If, contrary to the prediction, it will start raining, we can bug-out at one of the UP-W stations (Glen Ellyn, etc.).

leaving later + starting closer = might ride out to meet you again, weather permitting. depart 9:31 to ride 26.3 @ 14.8 = 1:47 arrive 11:18.

independent of sat., fri. looks good, can anybody else get away then?

Got another route planned, to continue exploration of the NW sector:

The forecast for this Saturday is 50% PM thunderstorms. If this will not improve, will re-schedule for the next week.

The route has been reviewed and finalized.

Don't forget to eat breakfast, as the first brewery, Holzlager, had no food.

There's food at the next one, ShadowView.

No comida at neither Sew Hop'd nor Black & Gray, but there's a nice BBQ joint just south of the latter.

And yet another place to eat something right next to the Elgin Metra, el Camaroncito Loco.
