Information

Chicagoland Beer Exploration Society

Every member of the Society (CBES) should aspire to have a beer at every brewery or brewpub located in a day or two bicycle ride distance from Chicago (and, of course, within the city limits).

Naturally, preferable way of getting to is by bike, as for riding back . . . whatever is available, train, bus, horse and buggy, depending on amount of beverages consumed at the destination.

Routes on Ride with GPS, here.

On Facebook, here.

On Twitter, here.

Lists of breweries and brewpubs (and other beer things): on Facebook, and on Twitter.

Up-to-date map (with a list, postal- and web-addresses and phone numbers, where available). Five hundred thirty (530!) so far.

Okay, if he's working that day I'll tell him to keep an eye out for you guys.

I'll say hi.

I never ask for discounts in situations like this one, though I always appreciate them ;)

I'm buried on Saturday otherwise I'd love to join on this one.  My co-worker is part owner of the one in Oswego.  If you see John Allen there tell him to give you a discount...

Not sure yet. I have a dentist appointment early in the morning of the 18th. Shouldn't take long. Somewhere not far? More in Villa Park?

Any alternatives to Dark Lord for those sans ticket?  North to Highwood, Lake Bluff, or Mundelein?

Math never been my forte... :(

Especially fantasy math ;)

Steve you deserve your A. :-)

1 + (0.5 / T-0.5)
= T / (T-0.5)
= 2T / (2T - 1)

so if NO gives themselves 2 hours, that means T = 2.5 and they have to be 5/4 as fast = 25% faster. for example, ER @ 12 mph for 2.5 h = 30 mi = NO @ 15 mph for 2 h.

your next beer is on me! :-)

fyi NO decided they weren't 25% faster and took it easy. :-)

Comment by Steve A on May 14, 2019 at 7:44am

To calculate how fast he needs to go, NO's speed must be ER's speed times (1+ (0.5 / T-0.5)).  But if you don't know ER's speed or how far he (or she) is going, NO must just haul ass and hope that ER gets a flat along the way.
