Teen on bike killed in Humboldt Park

A 17-year-old boy riding a bike was fatally shot on the city’s West Side on Wednesday, while three others were hurt in two separate daylight shootings on the South Side, Chicago police said.

In the latest outburst of violence, authorities said the teen was riding a bicycle on a sidewalk in the 3900 block of West Iowa Street in the Humboldt Park neighborhood just before 5 p.m. when a gunman got out of a red Hyundai and opened fire, police said. A second man got out of the vehicle but wasn’t armed.

The story does say he was riding on the sidewalk; it doesn't say if he was wearing a helmet.
